Rolex marks a century of the Oyster case patented in 1926 with a number of celebratory releases at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2026, and few are as immediately arresting as the new Oyster Perpetual 36. Rather than reach for precious metals or complications, Rolex turned to its own typographic heritage, reviving the Jubilee motif as the centerpiece of a multicolored lacquer dial that is as technically demanding as it is visually joyful.
Things to Know About the Watch
The Jubilee motif was first introduced on Rolex dials in the late 1970s and has since become an emblem of the brand's decorative vocabulary. Here it is reinterpreted across a lacquer dial in no fewer than ten colors, each applied sequentially—not simultaneously—requiring exceptional precision to maintain alignment of every letterform and shape.
The pattern is built from the letters of the Rolex name, arranged in a repeating, all-over composition that rewards a close look. The 36 mm Oystersteel case is unchanged in its fundamentals: the familiar round case with screw-down winding crown and Twinlock crown system, water-resistant to 100 meters, paired with the three-link Oyster bracelet. The watch is also the first generation of the Oyster Perpetual to carry Rolex's newly updated Superlative Chronometer certification, reflecting tightened in-house accuracy standards.
The Movement
Powering the ref. 126000 is the calibre 3230, Rolex's self-winding manufacture movement featuring the Chronergy escapement, a redesigned lever-and-escape wheel system offering improved energy efficiency, along with a Parachrom hairspring for resistance to magnetic fields and shocks. Power reserve is approximately 70 hours.
