The Alpine Eagle has always occupied an interesting position in Chopard's lineup as a sports watch that refuses to compromise on movement quality or finishing standards. The new Alpine Eagle 41 XPS doubles down on that identity with a second ultra-thin edition, this time featuring a "Mountain Glow" champagne dial and a redesigned bracelet that addresses the one area where its predecessor still had room to grow.
Things to Know About the Watch
The case remains 41mm in diameter and just 8mm thick, crafted entirely in Chopard's proprietary Lucent Steel—an 80% recycled alloy produced through an advanced remelting process that yields a material with gold-like luster, hypoallergenic properties akin to surgical steel, and exceptional hardness. The new "Mountain Glow" dial achieves its warm champagne tone through galvanic treatment, featuring a stamped, radiating pattern modeled on an eagle's iris.
Applied ethical white gold hour-markers and hands are coated with Grade X1 Super-LumiNova® for legibility across conditions. The redesigned bracelet is where Chopard put the most visible work: the first five links taper more aggressively, and a new comfort-adjustment system built into the triple-folding clasp allows the bracelet to extend by up to 5 mm with a simple push-and-pull—an elegant solution for temperature-driven wrist fluctuation. Water resistance is rated to 100 meters.
The Movement
Powering the Alpine Eagle 41 XPS is the in-house L.U.C Calibre 96.40-L, a direct descendant of the very first movement Chopard Manufacture produced in Fleurier in 1996. At just 3.30 mm thin, this automatic movement winds two stacked barrels via a 22K ethical yellow gold micro-rotor—Chopard's Twin technology— delivering a 65-hour power reserve with notably consistent energy output.
The movement beats at 28,800 vph, incorporates a swan's neck regulator and stop-seconds function, and carries both COSC chronometer certification and the Poinçon de Genève hallmark. Bridges are decorated with Côtes de Genève, and the case back offers a full view of the movement.
On the Wrist & Price
The Alpine Eagle 41 XPS is a rare thing — a thin sports watch with manufacture movement credentials and finishing that holds up to scrutiny at every level. The Mountain Glow dial and refined bracelet make a strong case already set by the inaugural Monte Rosa Pink edition.
