Introducing: IWC Ingenieur Automatic 42 in Dark Olive Green Ceramic (Live Photos)

IWC Schaffhausen has unveiled the Ingenieur Automatic 42 in dark olive green ceramic (reference IW338902) at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2026, marking a meaningful milestone for the collection. This is the first time the Gérald Genta-derived integrated bracelet design has been executed in colored ceramic. Where last year's black ceramic reference leaned into severity, the olive green iteration plays a more nuanced game: warm, richly saturated, and punctuated by gold that softens what might otherwise be an uncompromisingly technical proposition.

Things to Know About the Watch

The 42 mm case is constructed from dark olive green zirconium oxide ceramic across the case ring, bezel, case back ring, crown guards, and integrated bracelet. The color is achieved by blending zirconium oxide with metallic oxides, then controlling the sintering process carefully to ensure consistency across all components. To keep the profile as slim as possible, 11.5 mm thick, IWC employed a multi-part construction with an internal titanium ring that seats the movement and anchors the bezel screws.

The dial, matching the case’s hue, features the characteristic “grid” structure, consisting of small lines and squares, stamped into the soft iron base under high pressure. Afterward, the olive-green color is applied via a PVD coating. The gold-plated baton hands and the applied markers are all filled with SuperLumiNova luminescent mass to ensure perfect legibility in all lighting conditions.

The crown is 18K 5N red gold; the bezel screws are IWC's proprietary Armor Gold alloy. The dial features gold imprints and a gold-framed date window at 3 o'clock, along with the usual “Ingenieur” lightning bolt logo at 6. The water resistance is rated to 100 meters.

The Movement

Power comes from the IWC-manufactured calibre 82110, an automatic movement with the brand's Pellaton bidirectional winding system—notable for its use of virtually wear-free ceramic components in the winding mechanism. The movement beats at 28,800 vph and delivers a 60-hour power reserve. Côtes de Geneve decorate the bridges, visible through the slightly tinted sapphire case back.

On the Wrist & Price

The combination of dark color and lightweight ceramic—the watch weighs a total of 134 grams—makes the 42 mm size feel more comfortable than its dimensions suggest. The integrated bracelet, connecting via middle links and closing with a double-folding deployant clasp, provides excellent ergonomics. The olive-green ceramic Ingenieur Automatic 42 is an assured, design-forward piece that earns its place at the top of the current Ingenieur lineup.
