News: Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève GPHG 2023 Prize Winners

Yesterday, November 9, 2023, in Geneva, Switzerland, the 2023 Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève —GPHG— winners were unveiled at the Théâtre du Léman at an awards ceremony eagerly awaited by industry stakeholders and watchmaking enthusiasts alike. Chaired by Nick Foulkes, the 2023 jury and the 847-member GPHG Academy honored contemporary watchmaking excellence and creativity by awarding 19 prizes, including the prestigious “Aiguille d’Or” Grand Prix which went to Audemars Piguet for the Code 11.59 Ultra- Complication Universelle RD#4 watch.

Eagerly awaited each year by watchmaking professionals and enthusiasts, the 22nd awards ceremony of the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève, poetically hosted by Edouard Baer, was held today Thursday, November, 10th, 2022 at Geneva’s Théâtre du Léman. The GPHG Academy —regrouping 650 key figures in the profession worldwide— and the 2022 Jury chaired by Nick Foulkes saluted watchmaking excellence and expertise by attributing 21 prizes including the famous “Aiguille d’Or” Grand Prix “best-in-show” distinction, which was awarded to MB&F for the Legacy Machine Sequential Evo watch.

Breaking News: MB&F LM Sequential EVO Wins the GPHG 2022 Aiguille d'Or Grand Prize

Today, November 10th, 2022, MB&F has been awarded the Aiguille d’Or Grand Prix at the 2022 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève —GPHG. It took 17 years after the release of their first watch for MB&F to release their first chronograph and its 20th calibre. One movement with two chronographs and multiple timing modes. Conceived with Stephen McDonnell, who previously reinvented the LM perpetual calendar for MB&F, the Legacy Machine Sequential EVO movement incorporates two column-wheel chronographs and a groundbreaking “Twinverter” binary switch, allowing multiple timing modes including split-second and lap timer modes —a combination never seen before in any chronograph.

News: The Jury for the 2022 Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève

The Foundation of the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève is pleased and honored to announce today the composition of the Jury for the 22nd edition of the GPHG. Historian, author, and journalist, Nick Foulkes will continue to chair the next Jury as President of the Jury and will unite the expertise of 30 personalities from the world of watchmaking and the arts to determine the 2022 prize list.

From the Editor: The 90 Nominated Timepieces for the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève 2022

As an Academy member of the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève, I cast my votes last month for the watches to become the nominees for the 2022 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève. Along with other 649 members from around the world, we submitted our votes digitally to narrow down the list from 254 watches—entered into this year’s competition— down to 90 selected timepieces.

From the Editor: Behind the Scenes as a Juror at the 2021 GPHG and the Winning Watches

When I launched WCL eight years ago, I never imagined one day I’d be part of the jury for the most important awards in the watch industry, pretty much the ‘Oscars’ for watches. Last week on Monday, November 1st, 2021, I gathered at the Musée Rath in Geneva, Switzerland along with 29 other jury members to vote for the watches competing at the 2021 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève —GPHG.

Today October 12, 2021 in Geneva, Switzerland the jury for the 2021 edition of the GPHG was officially announced. The GPHG jury is composed of 30 personalities from the world of art and watchmaking. The jury will be presided by its new president Nick Foulkes. This jury will determine the 2021 prize list. For the very first time the jury includes Halim Trujillo the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of our publication Watch Collecting Lifestyle.

News: Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève GPHG 2019 Winners. Audemars Piguet Takes the 'Aiguille d'Or' Grand Prix.

Excellence, innovation and watchmaking expertise were duly rewarded today November 7th, 2019 at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, on the occasion of the 19th Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève —GPHG— prize-giving ceremony. The international jury of this edition 2019 of the GPHG handed out 19 prizes, including the supreme “Aiguille d’Or” prize awarded to Audemars Piguet for their amazing Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin, the world’s thinnest automatic perpetual calendar. Created in 2001 and established in 2011 as a state-approved public-interest foundation, the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève pursues its mission of celebrating and promoting the watchmaking with the support of its public and private partners, notably including its new principal partner, LGT Private Banking. Excellence, innovation and watchmaking expertise were duly rewarded today November 10th, 2016 at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, on the occasion of the 16th Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève —GPHG— prize-giving ceremony. The international jury of this edition 2016 of the GPHG handed out 16 prizes, including the supreme “Aiguille d’Or” prize awarded to the one-year old manufacture Chronométrie Ferdinand Berthoud for their amazing Chronomètre FB1, an in-House Fusée-Chain Chronometer with Tourbillon.

This edition of the GPHG 2016 has attracted record participation just as in previous years, with most major watch groups represented, along with a number of independent companies.

News: The Winners of the 2015 Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève. Congratulations to the Winners and Especially to Greubel Forsey for Winning the 'Aiguille d'Or' Grand Prix.

Excellence, innovation and watchmaking expertise were duly rewarded today October 29th, 2015 at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, on the occasion of the 15th Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève —GPHG— prize-giving ceremony. The international jury of this edition 2015 of the GPHG handed out 16 prizes, including the supreme “Aiguille d’Or”, distinction, awarded to Greubel Forsey for the Tourbillon 24 Secondes Vision. Jointly hosted by Melanie Winiger and Frédéric Beigbeder, the ceremony was attended by around 1,500 guests including influential figures from the world of watchmaking, finance and politics, who congregated in Geneva for this annual celebration of the 12th art. This 15th edition of the GPHG registered a record participation with representation from all the major watchmaking groups as well as a number of independent companies.

The list of watches pre-selected by the 2015 jury is now available on the official website of the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève, gphg.org. These 72 timepieces will be competing to win the prestigious “Aiguille d’Or” Grand Prix or one of the 16 prizes awarded for contemporary creative talent and watchmaking expertise. By consulting this list, watchmaking enthusiasts from all over the world are invited to vote for their favorite watch. They will thus take part in electing a model to be awarded the Public Prize and automatically participate in the draw to win a timepiece. The 2015 awards will be revealed on October 29th at the Grand Théâtre de Genève. Presented jointly by Frédéric Beigbeder and Gaspard Proust, the prize-giving ceremony will be attended by Alain Berset, Federal Councillor, and will see representatives from the international watchmaking community congregate in Geneva to recognize the dynamic buoyancy of their sector. The event will be broadcasted live on gphg.org.

Excellence, innovation and watchmaking expertise were duly rewarded today October 31st, 2014 at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, on the occasion of the 14th Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève —GPHG— prize-giving ceremony. The international jury of this edition 2014 of the GPHG handed out 16 prizes, including the supreme “Aiguille d’Or”, distinction, awarded to Breguet for the Classic Chronométrie model. This prize was officially presented on-stage by the Federal Councillor Johann Schneider-Ammann, who praised the vitality of the Swiss watch industry. Jointly hosted by Melanie Winiger and Frédéric Beigbeder, the ceremony was attended by around 1,500 guests including influential figures from the world of watchmaking, finance and politics, who congregated in Geneva for this annual celebration of the 12th art.

News: Girard-Perregaux Constant Escapement L.M. Selected 2013 Grand Prix "Aiguille d'Or" at The Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève.

November 15, 2013 — The 13th edition of the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève —Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix— was held this evening at the Grand Théatre de Genève. Fourteen prizes were awarded to timepieces across different categories and a Special Jury Prize was given to Philippe Dufour. As most people in the industry were expecting, the Grand Prix "Aiguille d'Or" Watch of the Year Prize was given to the fascinating Girard-Perregaux Constant Escapement L.M. The prize was received by the CEO of the Sowind Group —Girard-Perregaux and JEANRICHARD— Mr. Michele Sofisti. Congratulations!!!!
