W&W 2024: Jaeger-LeCoultre Duometre Quantieme Lunaire (Live Pics)

Along with two other new Duometre timepieces, Jaeger-LeCoultre presents the new Duometre Quantieme Lunaire ref. Q604848J —Moon Phase complication. This is also the first Duometre piece to ever be offered in stainless steel. Equipped with a gorgeous convex blue dial, paired with a new case size and design, accentuated by its box-glass sapphire crystal, the new Duometre Quantieme Lunaire is timeless looking.

At Watches & Wonders 2024, Jaeger-LeCoultre presented a redesigned Duometre collection with three new models with four spectacular watches that include the Duometre Heliotourbillon Perpetual, the Duometre Quantieme Lunaire, and the Duometre Chronograph Moon in two variations including a platinum case with a copper-colored dial, and a pink gold case with a silver opaline dial. Both models are enhanced by a hand-stitched alligator strap with small-scale alligator lining.

We eagerly awaited our appointment at Watches & Wonders 2024 with Jaeger-LeCoultre to get our hands on one of the most exciting releases of 2024 in Geneva. The Duometre Heliotourbillon Perpetual marks a new era for the Duometre Collection with an innovative tourbillon constructed on three axes a first for Jaeger-LeCoultre. Pushing the boundaries of haute horlogerie, the new Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 388 features an entirely new tourbillon construction that makes the tourbillon spin on three axes to create a ‘spinning top’ effect. This new calibre 388 also incorporates a perpetual calendar with a grande date indication at 3 o’clock.

For Watches & Wonders 2024 Jaeger-LeCoultre presents the Duometre Heliotourbillon Perpetual, an innovative tourbillon constructed on three axes to create a unique kinematic effect —a first for Jaeger-LeCoultre. Pushing the boundaries of inventiveness further than ever, the new Calibre 388 features an entirely new tourbillon construction: one that spins on three axes to create a ‘spinning top’ effect. Beating at a frequency of 28,800 vph to further enhance chronometry, Calibre 388 also incorporates a perpetual calendar with a grande date indication.

In 2024, Jaeger-LeCoultre presents a new generation of Duometre timepieces, among them a reinterpretation of the Duometre Quantieme Lunaire ref. Q604848J —Moon Phase. This is also the first Duometre piece to ever be offered in steel, its eye-catching blue dial, paired with a new case, lends a decidedly contemporary air to a timeless and distinctive design.

Introducing: Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Tourbillon Enamel

Contrasting with the fully polished 40 mm pink gold case, the blue dial of the new timepiece provides a dramatic backdrop for the tourbillon and the date display, and reflected light dances across the sunray pattern of the guillochage with every movement of the wrist. The hand-guilloché pattern is a work of immense precision and skill: each of the 180 ‘sun rays’ required six passages of the hand-operated rose engine lathe, making 1,080 lines altogether.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Stories Exhibition has just opened up to the public today November 3, 2023 in New York City at the IRON 23 space located at 29 W 23rd Street. The exhibition will run until November 22, 2023. During the opening cocktail that we were honored to attend, we were able to immerse ourselves into this captivating and very well put together exhibition that is a must for all watch collectors and even more so for lovers of the iconic Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso. The opening night was for sure one of the best watch events of the year with the presence of Catherine Rénier —CEO of Jaeger-LeCoultre— and JLC ambassadors Lenny Kravitz, Anya-Taylor Joy and Nicholas Hoult.

Jaeger-LeCoutlre is better known as the ‘Watchmaker of Watchmakers’ and I’ve seen some impressive timepieces from them in the past including the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Grande Tradition Gyrotourbillon Westminster Perpétuel that I perused in 2019. However, it wasn’t until yesterday at the SIAR 2023 in Mexico City, that I got to peruse for the first time in the metal, the most complex wristwatch ever produced, yes, I am talking about the JLC Hybris Mechanica à Grand Sonnerie first presented in 2009.

We all talk about the ‘Holy Trinity of Watchmaking’ composed by Vacheron Constantin, Patek Philippe, and Audemars Piguet, and for years I have debated if it should be called the ‘Holy Quartet of Watchmaking’ instead. Since it seems unfair to drop Audemars Piguet out of the trinity and include Jaeger-LeCoultre in its place, I think that making it a quartet seems more fair and reasonable.
