Since 2022, the Ripples collection has served as Speake Marin's entry into the integrated-bracelet, stainless-steel category that continues to dominate modern watch collecting. The new Ripples Kármán Line—named for the boundary 100 kilometers above sea level where Earth's atmosphere yields to outer space—sharpens the collection's proposition considerably. At 40.3 mm across and just 6.30 mm thick, powered by a fully in-house high-frequency calibre, this is Speake Marin making a pointed statement about what an independent manufacture can deliver in the ultra-thin segment.
Things to Know About the Watch
The case is executed in 904L stainless steel, the higher-grade alloy associated with superior corrosion resistance and a more brilliant polish than the industry-standard 316L. Designer Stéphane Lacroix's "La City" case shape—a hybrid of circle and square that has become a Ripples signature—benefits from the thinness here, with alternating polished and satin surfaces that emphasize how little vertical real estate the watch occupies on the wrist.
The dial is where things get particularly interesting. For the first time in the Ripples lineup, Speake Marin has opted for a sapphire crystal dial, introducing genuine depth and transparency to the blue-toned composition. Beneath the sapphire, Geneva stripes and a sunray texture are enhanced by blue metallization, while a rhodium-plated ring frames the small seconds counter positioned at 1:30—the brand's characteristic off-axis subdial placement. The heart-shaped hour hand, a nod to London's Big Ben and Speake Marin's British founding roots, remains. The minute flange, secured via an under-set mechanical snap-fit method that eliminates adhesive or solder, transitions from azure to deeper blue depending on how light hits its opal microbeaded surface.
The Movement
At the heart of the piece is the SMA06, an automatic calibre conceived and engineered entirely at Le Cercle des Horlogers, Speake Marin's manufacture in La Chaux-de-Fonds. At just 2.5 mm thick, the movement runs at a high-frequency 5 Hz (36,000 vph), delivering the kind of chronometric stability and smooth seconds-hand sweep typically reserved for movements with considerably more case depth to work with. An integrated micro-rotor—now a hallmark of the brand—keeps the profile slim while featuring an intricate laser-engraved pattern of alternating rhodium-plated and blue PVD rectangles that visually connects the movement to the dial above. The brand quotes a minimum 52-hour power reserve.
Summary & Price

The leather strap's silver lining features an illustration of Winston, the brand's mascot, floating in space—a playful touch that doesn't take itself too seriously.
