Five years ago, Richard Mille launched the first RM 07-01 Colored Ceramics, recontextualizing its signature feminine silhouette through the irreverent lens of 1980s Memphis Design. A second chapter followed in 2023. Now, Richard Mille closes the trilogy with The Final Chapter: three new RM 07-01 models that introduce gem-setting to the ceramic bezels and white gold casebands for the first time. Each is limited to 50 pieces.
Things to Know About the Watches
Gem-set TZP ceramic is a genuinely difficult undertaking. The headline addition is mitraillage gem-setting applied directly onto the TZP (Tetragonal Zirconia Polycrystal) ceramic bezels—a biocompatible material constituted of over 95% zirconia (ZrO2) that registers 1,400 Vickers on the hardness scale, harder than sapphire, with a low density of around 6 g/cm³. Working precious stones into that surface with hand-set gold prongs requires craftsmanship tailored to the material's extreme resistance.
Each model carries a distinct gem palette. The RM 07-01 Blush Pink pairs diamonds with yellow and blue sapphires. The RM 07-01 Powder Blue combines diamonds with pink sapphires and tsavorites. The RM 07-01 Lavender Pink sets diamonds alongside orange sapphires and rubies. The polished white gold casebands with satin-finished pillars carry the same stone palettes. Each model now reads as a complete color story rather than simply a case-color variant.
The multi-material dial is the most elaborate version yet. The grey PVD-treated red gold foundation carries hand-guillochage executed on a manual rose engine, colored ceramic inserts finished to micron-level tolerances, laser-cut rubber appliqués, and—new to this chapter—diamond-set components housed within white gold inserts. A single dial plane synthesizing mechanical engraving, advanced ceramics, elastomer engineering, and traditional gem-setting.
The case architecture is familiar but newly dressed. The three-part tonneau measures 45.66 x 31.40 x 11.85 mm, assembled with 12 grade 5 titanium spline screws and 316L stainless steel washers. Two Nitrile O-ring seals deliver 50 meters of water resistance behind sapphire crystals front and back. What changes is that the TZP ceramic bezel and case back—previously clean surfaces—now serve as the canvas for the mitraillage setting.
The Movement
The in-house CRMA2 calibre is the same skeletonized automatic movement that has anchored the RM 07-01 platform throughout the series. Baseplate and bridges in microblasted grade 5 titanium with electroplasma treatment provide the structural rigidity essential to the gear train. The variable-geometry rotor in 5N red gold adjusts winding efficiency via an automatic OneWay ceramic system with ball bearings. Power reserve sits at approximately 50 hours through a fast-rotating barrel, beating at 28,800 vph with a variable-inertia CuBe balance.
Summary & Price
Across three chapters, the Colored Ceramics collection has told a coherent story about what happens when Richard Mille's material science ambitions prioritize visual exuberance over mechanical complication. The 2026 edition earns its finale by adding the one decorative dimension that was missing and executing it at a level of difficulty commensurate with the brand's technical identity. Available exclusively at Richard Mille boutiques worldwide.
