From the Editor: Eight Years Ago I Called the A. Lange & Söhne Cabaret a Unicorn—Lange Relaunched It as a Trophy

I wrote about the A. Lange & Söhne Cabaret in yellow gold back in 2018 and called it exactly what it was at the time: one of the least desirable watches in the Lange lineup. A unicorn—rare not because collectors were chasing it, but because almost nobody was. An art deco oddity in a rectangular case that the market had largely passed over since its discontinuation around 2011.

Introducing: A. Lange & Söhne Cabaret Tourbillon Honeygold—An Unexpected Comeback

The Cabaret has always been one of A. Lange & Söhne's most polarizing propositions. Introduced in 1997 as part of the brand's post-reunification rebirth, the rectangular case and art deco-influenced double-step bezel never drew the same crowd as the Lange 1 or the Datograph. It was discontinued around 2011 and has since lived as a secondary-market curiosity.

Introducing: A. Lange & Söhne Lange 1 Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar Lumen—A Grand Complication That Never Goes Dark (Live Photos)

A. Lange & Söhne has always treated the Lange 1's asymmetric dial architecture as a canvas for complication. The "Lumen" edition pushes that proposition further than any previous iteration: a tourbillon, a perpetual calendar, and a moon phase—all luminous, all readable in complete darkness, housed in a 950 platinum case limited to 50 pieces.

From the Editor: Five Tourbillons That Defined the Past Twelve Months. Each One Answered a Different Question.

The tourbillon remains the most overused word in luxury watchmaking and, simultaneously, the complication most capable of separating genuine mechanical ambition from decoration. Almost every manufacture offers one, but very few deliver something really defining. Over the past twelve months, WCL has published coverage on dozens of tourbillon watches across every price segment and philosophy.

Experience: A. Lange & Söhne at the Audrian Newport Concours d'Elegance 2025

There's a natural kinship between fine watchmaking and classic automotive design—both celebrate precision engineering, aesthetic purity, and the kind of craftsmanship that transcends mere function. On October 5th, 2025, this connection was on full display at the Audrain Newport Concours d'Elegance, where A. Lange & Söhne unveiled the new Saxonia Thin Honeygold and Saxonia Thin Platinum against a backdrop of some of the world's most stunning vintage automobiles.

Introducing: A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Tourbillon Black Enamel Dial. Redefining Precision's Boundaries.

The 1815 Tourbillon family comprises three distinct interpretations: the foundational 750 pink gold model with an argenté dial, a limited platinum edition of 100 pieces featuring pristine white enamel with a red ‘12’ numeral, and this latest creation—50 platinum watches with deep black enamel dials. Each variant demonstrates how material choices can transform a timepiece's character while maintaining mechanical excellence.

Introducing: A. Lange & Söhne Richard Lange Jumping Seconds Pink Gold Dial

Nine years after its initial debut, A. Lange & Söhne has unveiled a new iteration of this remarkable timepiece, limited to just 100 pieces and distinguished by an arresting combination of an 18K white gold case, this time with a warm salmon 18K pink gold dial. At 39.9 mm in diameter and just 10.6 mm thick, this latest edition maintains the elegant proportions of its predecessor while delivering mechanical complexity.

Introducing: A. Lange & Söhne Zeitwerk Date in Pink Gold

A. Lange & Söhne revolutionized timekeeping in 2009 with the Zeitwerk, featuring a unique digital display powered by intricate mechanical engineering. Building on this foundation, the 2019 Zeitwerk Date added a distinctive date ring that encircles the dial. Now, six years after the original 18K white gold model, A. Lange & Söhne unveils a fresh interpretation of the Zeitwerk Date in 18K pink gold.

W&W 2025: A. Lange & Söhne Minute Repeater Perpetual (Live Photos)

The most impressive novelty from A. Lange & Söhne this year at Watches & Wonders 2025 is the new Minute Repeater Perpetual with a black enamel dial. This horological masterpiece brilliantly marries the acoustic precision of a minute repeater with the mathematical complexity of a perpetual calendar. Either complication standing alone would represent a significant technical achievement; their integration into a single timepiece presents an extraordinary challenge.

W&W 2025: A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Blue Dial 34 mm in White or Pink Gold (Live Photos)

Ferdinand Adolph Lange's founding vision centered on creating pocket watches that seamlessly blend precision, functionality, and elegance—a philosophy that continues to guide A. Lange & Söhne’s creations today. The new 1815 faithfully upholds this tradition, available with a 34 mm case in either pink or white gold variations.

W&W 2025: A. Lange & Söhne Odysseus Honey Gold (Live Photos)

The new A. Lange & Söhne Odysseus in Honey Gold joins its siblings in stainless steel, white gold, and titanium, cloaked in the unique Lange Honey Gold alloy. Honey Gold is A. Lange & Söhne's proprietary gold alloy. Its unique amber-like hue catches light differently than traditional yellow or rose gold, creating a sophisticated visual signature that's more subtle than typical gold watches.

W&W 2024: A. Lange & Söhne Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon 'Lumen' Honeygold (Live Pics)

The A. Lange & Söhne Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon 'Lumen' Honeygold ref. 740.055FE unites three grand complications including a flyback chronograph with a precisely jumping minute counter, an instantaneously switching perpetual calendar with an outsize date as well as a one-minute tourbillon with stop seconds. The masterpiece also reveals its radiant personality in the dark ‒ thanks to the semi-transparent dial and the luminous coating. Additionally, the case stands out because of the particular hardness and incomparable resplendence of Lange-exclusive honey gold.

From the Editor: Here's Why I Think the A. Lange & Söhne Lange 1 Perpetual is a Perfect Watch for Guys Like Me

I’ve always been a big fan of A. Lange & Söhne, but I’ve never taken the plunge and purchased one. It is one of the brands that I really like but it doesn’t seem to fit my style and my lifestyle, as I typically gravitate toward very sporty watches or watches that are fitted with a bracelet. Now, I am not saying that you can’t wear a Lange watch with a pair of jeans and sneakers, nevertheless, every time that I try one on it seems to not go well with what I am wearing until the day that I took these pictures and the wristshot at the end of this article.
