Insider: Panerai Radiomir Tourbillon GMT Bronzo PAM01284. The Crown Jewel of all Radiomirs.

The Panerai Radiomir Tourbillon GMT Bronzo PAM01284 marks a second milestone as the second bronze case —first one was the PAM0760— for the Radiomir collection and a stunning timepiece, to say the least. Panerai Radiomir watches, with their distinguished and iconic design, are an epitome of elegance, robustness, and a historical Paneristi look. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, these timepieces embody the brand's rich heritage rooted in Italian naval history.

The Radiomir collection pays homage to the classic Panerai timepieces of the late 1930s and 1940s, showcasing a harmonious blend of vintage aesthetics and contemporary engineering. The cushion-shaped case, luminous dials, and minimalistic design elements exemplify Panerai's commitment to simplicity and functionality. Equipped with high-performance automatic or manual-winding movements, Radiomir watches ensure impeccable precision and reliability. Whether it's the Radiomir Black Seal, Radiomir California, or Radiomir 1940, each model brings a distinct and captivating personality to the wrist, making it a prized possession for horological enthusiasts and history buffs alike.

Things to Know About the Watch

The Panerai Radiomir Tourbillon GMT Bronzo PAM01284 brings to the table an impeccable horological execution with the first bronze case in the Radiomir collection.

The Panerai Luminor Submersible 1950 3 Days Bronzo PAM382 was the first sports watch and the first Panerai watch to feature a case completely made out of bronze and it was first presented in 2011 in a limited edition of 1,000 pieces. Two years later, in 2013 the Luminor Submersible 1950 3 Days Power Reserve Bronzo PAM 507 came out also in a 1,000-piece limited edition, and in 2017 Panerai released the last of all Bronzos in a limited edition of only 1,000 pieces with a striking blue dial.

Now is the time for the Radiomir line to get its second Bronzo and the one that beats all others from a horological standpoint. The new Radiomir Tourbillon GMT Bronzo PAM01284 features a 45 mm case in bronze combining the reliability and precision of a manual wound tourbillon along with a dual time GMT time zone complication thanks to a second hour hand.

Equipped with an open-worked olive green dial —in reality, the movement itself— that is a chameleon depending on lighting conditions, the double mainspring barrel takes the center stage at 6 o’clock due to its size. A 24-hour day/night indicator at 3 o’clock helps read the time in the second time zone and at 9 o’clock there is a running seconds indicator. Finally, the tourbillon makes its rounds with vertical axis rotations between 10 and 11 o’clock. To maintain the clean look of the open-worked design, the Radiomir Panerai writing appears on the sapphire crystal rather than on the movement.

The Movement

Powering the Panerai Radiomir Tourbillon GMT Bronzo PAM01284 is the manual wound 256-part Panerai in-house calibre P.2015/T with 27 jewels, Glucydur balance, and two barrels that ensure a power reserve of 4 days when fully wound. This titanium movement includes a convenient power reserve indicator on the back and it is fully visible via the display sapphire crystal case back. The titanium bridges and plates on this movement allow for the overall weight of the movement to be 35% less than that of regular brass movements. The screwed-on case back is made out of titanium, which was selected because of its hypoallergenic and corrosion-resistance properties.

On the Wrist & Price

On the wrist, the Panerai Radiomir Tourbillon GMT Bronzo PAM01284 wears true to its size and is much lighter than the previous Panerai Bronzos. The watch is delivered on a Vecchio calf strap with ecru contrast stitching and the combination of the warm tones of the bronze case, along with the olive green open-worked dial make for a very good-looking watch with excellent military/navy vibes. Now, as far as the price, this is a lot of money for a Panerai and we’d say that if you are looking for a tourbillon, you should look elsewhere.
