One of the most impressive and horologically advanced timepieces presented at Watches & Wonders 2024 is the new IWC Portugieser Eternal Calendar. IWC now pushes the boundaries once again with its first secular perpetual calendar. In addition to recognizing the different lengths of the months and adding a leap day every four years, the Portugieser Eternal Calendar also takes into account the Gregorian calendar’s complex leap-year exception rules

One of the most unique watches in every sense of the word is the new De Bethune DB28xs Purple Rain ref. DB28xsPR. A purple watch in purple polished grade 5 titanium that is the result of thermal oxidation that De Bethune masters. This is the very first time that the brand has created a watch that has been purpled; however, De Bethune’s expertise goes to great lengths in mastering the art of bluing metals with the use of heat as the old watchmaking technique demands.

Without a doubt, one of our favorite novelties at Watches & Wonders 2024 is the new Zenith DEFY Skyline Chronograph with its dodecagonal bezel, interchangeable bracelet/strap system, and overall timeless look. The Zenith DEFY Skyline Chronograph is fitted with a stainless steel case measuring 42 mm in diameter but that wears slightly smaller and more like 41 mm.

Before heading to Geneva for Watches & Wonders 2024, we were already very excited about the latest addition to the HYT lineup. The new HYT T1 Series is beyond what we expected. Redesigned, better, and more wearable are just some of the words that come to mind after perusing the new watches. As HYT celebrates its 12th anniversary this year 2024, the new HYT T1 is a smaller hydromechanical watch with a case diameter of 45.3 mm, a slightly more slender profile, and a new ergonomic design for optimum comfort.

W&W 2024: Jaeger-LeCoultre Duometre Chronograph Moon (Live Pics)

At Watches & Wonders 2024, Jaeger-LeCoultre presented a redesigned Duometre collection with three new models with four spectacular watches that include the Duometre Heliotourbillon Perpetual, the Duometre Quantieme Lunaire, and the Duometre Chronograph Moon in two variations including a platinum case with a copper-colored dial, and a pink gold case with a silver opaline dial. Both models are enhanced by a hand-stitched alligator strap with small-scale alligator lining.

W&W 2024: Vacheron Constantin Overseas Self-Winding Date 41 and 35 Sunburst Green (Live Pics)

For Watches & Wonders 2024, Vacheron Constantin decided to do a first in the Overseas collection and added four 18K pink gold models with a brand new color to their dials. The Overseas Self-Winding Date is available in 41 mm as reference 4520V/210R-B967 or with a 35 mm case with a diamond set bezel as reference 4605V/200R-B969. Both watches are simply gorgeous and perfectly sized for unisex wear.

The moment we sat down with Edouard Meylan CEO and Owner of H. Moser & Cie. during Watches & Wonders 2024 last week, we knew we were in for a real treat. The new H. Moser & Cie. Streamliner Tourbillon Skeleton is one of those watches that we were looking forward to seeing in the metal and what better way than to have the watch presented to us by Edouard Meylan.

W&W 2024: Vacheron Constantin Overseas Tourbillon Titanium Blue (Live Pics)

Vacheron Constantin is expanding its range of titanium watches with a new Overseas Tourbillon model this time with a blue lacquered dial. Entirely made of titanium with a 42.5 mm case and a bracelet, crown, and bezel also in titanium, the new Overseas Tourbillon Titanium Blue ref. 6000V/210T-H032 is the perfect successor to the first titanium Overseas Tourbillon Skeleton presented in 2022.

One of our favorites is the new Overseas Dual Time Sunburst Green Dial ref. 7920V/210R-B965 which could have easily been released as a special edition for Mexico because of the combination of the green dial and the red accents on the AM/PM indicator and on the dual time pointer hand.

W&W 2024: Jaeger-LeCoultre Duometre Heliotourbillon Perpetual (Live Pics). A Favorite New Release.

We eagerly awaited our appointment at Watches & Wonders 2024 with Jaeger-LeCoultre to get our hands on one of the most exciting releases of 2024 in Geneva. The Duometre Heliotourbillon Perpetual marks a new era for the Duometre Collection with an innovative tourbillon constructed on three axes a first for Jaeger-LeCoultre. Pushing the boundaries of haute horlogerie, the new Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 388 features an entirely new tourbillon construction that makes the tourbillon spin on three axes to create a ‘spinning top’ effect. This new calibre 388 also incorporates a perpetual calendar with a grande date indication at 3 o’clock.

The Patek Philippe Aquanaut Travel Time ref. 5164 appears for the very first time in 18K white gold and features an opaline blue-gray dial with an Aquanaut embossed pattern. This refined shade is echoed on the blue-gray rubber strap with an 18K white gold fold-over clasp. The new Patek Philippe Aquanaut Travel Time ref. 5164G-001 Blue-Gray dial is for sure the type of watch you need to see in person to fully appreciate it.

The Patek Philippe Nautilus flyback chronograph ref. 5980 reappears now cloaked in 18K white gold and featuring an opaline blue-gray dial horizontally embossed. This refined shade is echoed on the blue-gray denim-patterned calfskin strap with a white gold Nautilus fold-over clasp. The watch is also delivered with an additional blue-gray composite material strap with a fabric pattern.

W&W 2024: Patek Philippe In-Line Perpetual Calendar ref. 5236P-010 Salmon Dial (Live Pics)

First presented in 2021, Patek Philippe introduced a new perpetual calendar with an innovative patented one-line display that displays the day, the date, and the month on a single line in an elongated aperture beneath 12 o'clock. Now, for Watches & Wonders 2024, Patek Philippe presents the 5236P with a salmon-colored dial. The first iteration of the Patek Philippe In-Line Perpetual Calendar ref. 5236P featured a gorgeous blue dial; however, here at WCL we have a soft spot for salmon dials.

The Perpetual 1908 is now available in a .950 platinum 39mm case with an ice blue guilloché dial. The hue of this dial is in line with the exclusive use by Rolex of ice blue dials on platinum cases. For this new Rolex Perpetual 1908, the brand has tapped into a more traditional watchmaking approach by decorating the dial with hand guilloché.

Equipped with a 36 mm 18K Everose gold —Rolex’s proprietary alloy made in its foundry— case, this new version of the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 36 introduces a blue-green dial unlike any other. New for the collection, the Day-Date 36 Everose Blue-Green Dial ref. 128395TBR features a bezel set with 60 trapeze-cut diamonds and a dial with 10 baguette-cut diamonds serving as markers.

W&W 2024: Rolex Day-Date 40 Everose Slate Ombré Dial ref. 228235 (Live Pics)

Equipped with a 40 mm 18K Everose gold —Rolex’s proprietary alloy made in its foundry— case, this new version of the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 40 introduces a smoky slate ombré dial. This new ombré hue offers a delicate transition between light at the center of the dial and darkness around the edge. Graced with faceted, deconstructed Roman numerals and faceted index hour markers in 18K pink gold, this dial represents the continuity of a design that we introduced in the 1980s and relaunched in 2019.

W&W 2024: Rolex GMT-Master II ref. 126710GRNR (Live Pics). Let's Nickname it the 'Shadow GMT'.

For the first time, the Rolex GMT-Master II ref. 126710 in stainless steel is cloaked with a new cerachrom bezel insert in grey and black just like that insert introduced in 2023 for the 18K yellow gold GMT-Master II model ref. 126718GRNR. This time the new GMT-Master II also features a 40 mm case where either the Oyster or Jubilee bracelets are interchangeable unlike on previous models where if the watch was fitted with a jubilee bracelet, the case wouldn’t take an oyster bracelet.

W&W 2024: Piaget Altiplano Ultimate Concept Tourbillon (Live Pics). The World's Thinnest Tourbillon.

Pushing the boundaries of Haute Horlogerie now comes the new Piaget Altiplano Ultimate Concept Tourbillon. Its dimensions, which truly stretch the limits of watchmaking feasibility, with a diameter of 41.5 mm and a thickness of only 2 mm, make it the thinnest tourbillon watch on the market. The blue PVD-treated cobalt alloy case is water resistant to 20 meters and the watch is simply unreal. A glorious way to celebrate 150 years of history at Piaget.

A new collection of watches from Hermès for women makes its appearance at Watches & Wonders 2024. The new Hermès Cut is equipped with a 36 mm case making it perfectly unisex. The circular satin-brushed stainless steel case features highly polished areas and is fitted with a anti-reflective treated sapphire crystal on front and back. The new Hermès Cut New Collection comes with a stainless steel bracelet or a rubber strap and equipped with an interchangeable strap system that allows for the watch to be worn with either.

W&W 2024: Parmigiani Fleurier Toric Petite Seconde in Rose Gold and in Platinum (Live Pics)

One of our favorite watches at Watches & Wonders 2024 is the new Parmigiani Toric Petite Seconde. The Toric Petite Seconde has been revived with a more contemporary look but still maintaining all the design cues from the original model designed by Michel Parmigiani in 1996 for the launch of the brand. Equipped with manual wound solid gold movements, gold ‘cheve’ dials, gold hands and released in 18K rose gold ref. PFC940-2010001-300181-EN or in .950 platinum ref. PFC940-2010004-300181-EN, the Toric Petite Seconde is a flawless execution that exudes ‘haute horlogerie’ all the way.
