W&W 2024: H. Moser & Cie. Streamliner Tourbillon Skeleton (Live Pics). Leaving Nothing to the Imagination.

The moment we sat down with Edouard Meylan CEO and Owner of H. Moser & Cie. during Watches & Wonders 2024 last week, we knew we were in for a real treat. The new H. Moser & Cie. Streamliner Tourbillon Skeleton is one of those watches that we were looking forward to seeing in the metal and what better way than to have the watch presented to us by Edouard Meylan. Designed to offer an unparalleled visual and mechanical experience, the Streamliner Tourbillon Skeleton features a stunning minimalist aesthetic and perfect symmetry.

For this impressive watch, H. Moser & Cie. has stripped away all unnecessary material to better showcase and enhance the piece, and added a one-minute flying tourbillon with a double hairspring that appears to float weightlessly. Equipped with a stainless steel case measuring 40 mm in diameter, this is for sure one of the nicest-looking skeletonized watches out there. The case features recessed and satin-finished forms on the sides, with alternating polished and brushed surfaces, and is fitted with a subtly domed sapphire crystal, echoed by the see-through case back.

In 2022, H. Moser & Cie. presented the Pioneer Cylindrical Tourbillon Skeleton and made a remarkable entry into the skeleton watch segment, while defining its codes for the skeleton aesthetic. Using the same signatures, the Manufacture is launching its second skeleton model, this time part of the Streamliner collection. By removing as much material as possible, H. Moser & Cie. has sculpted every detail of the Streamliner Tourbillon Skeleton with precision, resulting in a creation with a stark, refined aesthetic.

The level of skeletonization on the Streamliner Tourbillon Skeleton doesn’t leave much to the imagination. So much metal has been removed from the bridges on this movement that everything is truly visible including the mainspring within a hollowed-out barrel, the skeletonized oscillating weight can be seen from the front, and every component in this movement is visible to the naked eye. Pointing to 5N gold-plated indices, the three-dimensional hour and minute hands made from two sections feature inserts with Globolight, an innovative ceramic-based material containing Super-LumiNova. Seemingly floating in the middle of a void, a one-minute flying tourbillon positioned at six o'clock comes to life to power this exceptional timepiece.

The Movement

Turning the watch over reveals the beating heart of the H. Moser & Cie. Streamliner Tourbillon Skeleton. This 167-part automatic movement calibre HMC 814 has been anthracite-treated so that all bridges and plates match the monochromatic look of the watch. The beveling is as precise as it gets and the quality of work in terms of finishes is simply remarkable. This automatic movement provides a power reserve of 72 hours —3 days— when fully wound.

A marvel of ingenuity, this automatic HMC 814 skeleton movement is equipped with a double hairspring designed and produced in-house by H. Moser & Cie.'s sister company Precision Engineering AG. Thanks to this pair of matched hairsprings, the movement of the point of gravity on each spring when it expands is corrected and the effect of friction is reduced, significantly improving accuracy and isochronism in the continual pursuit of perfection.

The Bracelet

The H. Moser & Cie. Streamliner Tourbillon Skeleton offers extraordinary ergonomics thanks to the design which includes a fully integrated stainless steel bracelet with no lugs on the case. Extending these curves, the integrated steel bracelet is elegantly arced to follow the line of the wrist.

Highly complex in construction, this bracelet has extremely fluid lines based on organic forms. The bracelet is structured like a seahorse spine —fully articulated but perfectly rigid at the same time. The bracelet is equipped with a folding clasp with three steel blades, engraved with the Moser logo.

On the Wrist & Price

On the wrist, the H. Moser & Cie. Streamliner Tourbillon Skeleton wears slightly smaller than its actual size and is quite comfortable. Without a doubt, this is one of the best-looking skeletonized watches out there.
