The Patek Philippe Nautilus flyback chronograph ref. 5980 reappears now cloaked in 18K white gold and featuring an opaline blue-gray dial horizontally embossed. This refined shade is echoed on the blue-gray denim-patterned calfskin strap with an 18K white gold Nautilus fold-over clasp. The watch is also delivered with an additional blue-gray composite material strap with a fabric pattern. The new Patek Philippe Nautilus ref. 5980/60G 'Denim' Blue-Gray Dial is for sure the type of watch you need to see in person to fully appreciate it. Despited by many hard-core Patek Philippe collectors we know, but a gorgeous piece in our book.
The 18K white gold case measuring 40.5 mm in diameter with a thickness of 12.2 mm is water resistant to 30 meters thanks to its screw-down crown. The case alternates satin brushed finished areas with mirror polished.
The chronograph indications are grouped in an original and legible large 6 o'clock monocounter with three concentric scales. The central chronograph seconds hand can also be used as a running seconds display. The watch looks fantastic on the denim-patterned calfskin strap as it would’ve been of poor taste and tacky for a brand like Patek to go the real denim route. Never forget this is not Hublot or Audemars Piguet.
The Movement
Powering the new Patek Philippe Nautilus ref. 5980/60G 'Denim' Blue-Gray Dial is the automatic Patek Philippe in-house calibre CH 28-520 C/522. Turning the watch over reveals the beautifully finished 327-part movement with 21K gold oscillating weight. This movement provides a power reserve of 55 hours when fully wound while beating at a frequency of 28,800 vph.
On the Wrist & Price
The new Patek Philippe Nautilus ref. 5980/60G 'Denim' Blue-Gray Dial wears very nicely and true to its size. We are confident that this will be the most sought-after Nautilus model in the next couple of years. Not for everyone but a must for us here at WCL.
