Experience: Carlen Parfums Aztec Noir. Like the Japanese Culture Rich in Sensorial Stimulation.

We recently discovered Brooklyn-based Carlen Parfums and fell in love with their Aztec Noir fragrance. The name of this perfumier comes from the name Carlen, a German woman’s name which is a variant of Carlene or Carolina and which translates to ‘free man.’ With reverence to this androgynous muse, Carlen Parfums seeks to dismantle bonds of gender, place, and time and develop unique fragrances that can be worn by anyone regardless of gender orientation.

From the Editor: The Christopher Ward C1 Bel Canto is the Most Unexpected Watch of 2023. An Amazing Timepiece for the Price.

Without sounding like a snob, I never thought I would be featuring a Christopher Ward watch here at WCL, but the time has come. For me to talk about certain watches, these watches need to earn the right to be here, not because I think of WCL as the non plus ultra —nothing further beyond— but more than anything, because I truly believe in honest and unbiased watch content.

Experience: Artisans de Genève Honey Green Daytona

For this particular Honey Green Daytona, their client, a vintage watch enthusiast, entrusted Artisans de Genève with a styling exercise that turned into a true challenge to modify his yellow gold Rolex Daytona ref. 116508 while working with only a particular green that he had always dreamt of. He was looking for a particular green, somewhat dark, close to an English green, but with a slight blue touch to bring notes of elegance. It had to wear a vintage look; every detail had to pay homage to the very first watches he cherished.

Introducing: Bell & Ross X Alain Silberstein. BR 03-92 Klub 22, BR 03-92 Marine 22 and BR 03-94 Krono 22.

While Silberstein's colorful designs and the utilitarian stylings of Bell & Ross' signature square watch might initially seem to be from different worlds, one thing unites them. The clarity and integrity of Bell & Ross designer Bruno Belamich's aviation-inspired square —especially in this black ceramic case— is the perfect counterpoint to Silberstein's distinctive design language.
