This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore and AP has decided to celebrate with a few new releases in the collection. After the great release of the all-black all ceramic Royal Oak Offshore 42 reference 26238CE.OO.1300CE.01. we published here yesterday, now comes a new version of the Royal Oak Offshore 43 mm reference 26420CE.OO.A127CR.01 also cloaked in an all-black ceramic case but with 18K yellow gold accents on its strap plots, crown guards, and dial.

This new Royal Oak Offshore 43 features a color combination that is very reminiscent of the Formula One Lotus team John Player Special car that was awarded seven Constructors' World Championship titles, six Drivers' World Championship titles shared by legendary drivers such as Jim Clark, Graham Hill, Jochen Rindt, Emerson Fittipaldi, Mario Andretti, and even our favorite driver of all time Ayrton Senna. Therefore, here at WCL, we’ll nickname this new Royal Oak Offshore the ‘John Player Special’.

The new Royal Oak Offshore 43 ‘John Player Special’ reference 26420CE.OO.A127CR.01 sports a 43mm black ceramic case with a thickness of 14.4 mm and is equipped with an 18K yellow gold sapphire display case back.

The AP Royal Oak Offshore 43 ‘John Player Special’ reference 26420CE.OO.A127CR.01 features a black dial with a “Méga Tapisserie” pattern, black counters with 18K yellow gold surrounds, 18K yellow gold applied hour-markers and Royal Oak hands with luminescent coating, and a black flange with tachymetric scale. The watch includes black ceramic pushers, a black ceramic screw-down crown with an 18K yellow gold insert, and 18K yellow gold crown guards.

The watch is delivered on an interchangeable system black alligator strap with an 18K yellow gold pin buckle and an additional black rubber strap.

Just like the rest of the new generation of Royal Oak Offshores in 43 mm, the watch is powered by the new in-house AP Calibre 4401. This automatic flyback chronograph movement is composed of 381 parts and 40 jewels and it provides a power reserve of 70 hours while beating at a frequency of 28,800 vph.
