The Skelet-One was launched to celebrate the 280th anniversary of Jaquet Droz and with this watch, the brand went in a very different direction for the first time. An interpretation of its iconic watch the Grande Seconde with a modern open-worked look. Additionally, the Grande Seconde Skelet-One marks the first time that Jaquet Droz integrates a sapphire dial into a watch.

In 1770, Ferdinand Berthoud was awarded the title of "Clockmaker and Mechanic by appointment to the French King and Navy". Chronométrie Ferdinand Berthoud is celebrating this 250th anniversary by unveiling a new collection inspired by the Marine Clock No.6: the Chronomètre FB 2RE. This new timepiece reinterprets the architecture and design of this Marine Clock. Fitted along its middle with a large panoramic window, the round 18K gold case frames a grand feu enamel dial with complex two-tiered construction.

The Tudor Pelagos was first presented in 2012 as one of the first watches released by Tudor during its revamped era that started in 2010. The first generation of the Tudor Pelagos was only available with a black dial —with a two-liner depth rating— and powered by an ETA 2824 movement. When the Tudor Pelagos Blue ref. 25600TB was presented in 2015, it marked the first time that Tudor would be using an in-house calibre on any watch. The Tudor Pelagos Blue maintains the same titanium and steel 42 mm case construction as its predecessors but powered by the in-house calibre MT5612.

Here at WCL we’ve limited the hands-on reviews of ladies’ watches because as men we don’t feel fully qualified to pass judgment on a watch that is meant to be worn by a woman. The Vacheron Constantin Égérie is the newest collection unveiled by the brand at the beginning of the year and this is the first time that we get to peruse one of their watches in the metal. Eye Candy: Audemars Piguet CODE 11.59 Smoked Lacquered Dials
About a month ago, Audemars Piguet released the new lacquered dials on the Audemars Piguet CODE 11.59 as well as the new CODE 11.59 Two-Tone references. A very controversial watch at the time of its launch and a watch that has drastically grown on us thanks to the release of these new smoked lacquered dials. Audemars Piguet hit an absolute home run with the new dials and new two-tone models. After perusing all watches in the metal with the exception of the purple dial one which was not available, we were blown away by them.

Two weeks ago we brought you the news about the new lacquered dials on the Audemars Piguet CODE 11.59 and the new CODE 11.59 Two-Tone references. At the time of its launch, the CODE 11.59 by Audemars Piguet was a very controversial watch that got a lot of bad press. While we were not the biggest fans of it, we remained respectful and admitted that a few of the models were pretty good and others not so much. With the release of the new lacquered dial references and two new two-tone models, the CODE 11.59 takes on a second chance to change people’s opinions, and oh boy, Audemars Piguet hit an absolute home run with the new dials and new two-tone models.
