Two new sizes join the Vacheron Constantin Overseas collection. The two new Overseas Date models are available in 34.5 and 35 mm cases. A total of four references in stainless steel and in 18K 5N pink gold with gemset versions in 35 mm and non-gemset versions in 34.5 mm and with a sunburst blue or pink lacquered dial. These new iterations prompted the designers at Vacheron Constantin to revamp the silhouette of the case with a more slender appearance. Regardless that these watches are smaller, they are intended for unisex wearability.
The hours and minutes indications are accompanied by central seconds and a date display at 3 o'clock. The minutes track, placed around the rim in a single row, features a velvety finish creating harmonious light effects with the sunburst satin-brushed decoration of the lacquered dial.
The two models in 18K 5N pink gold as well as the non-gemset stainless steel timepiece adopt the collection's iconic blue dial, while that of the steel watch set with 90 diamonds feature a delicate shade of pink.
All new watches feature a strap interchangeability system that is as simple as it is practical. Each reference comes with three bracelet/straps: an integrated metal bracelet —in 18K 5N pink gold or stainless steel— and a rubber and calfskin strap. Another new feature is that the calfskin and rubber straps are now all equipped with an interchangeable clasp/buckle instead of just one buckle for the set. The stainless steel models feature a folding clasp and the 18K 5N models come with a pin buckle.
All four new Overseas Date 34.5 and 35 mm models are powered by the in-house calibre 1088/1 with a 40-hour power reserve. This 144-part movement features a hacking mechanism, Côtes de Genève motif and a 22K rose gold oscillating weight adorned with a compass rose.
The gemset models feature 90 diamonds, for a total weight of approximately 0.86 carats —guaranteed minimum carats. While the new sizes wear very well on a female wrist, they seem to wear somewhat small on an average male wrist, however, men with smaller wrists and small frames will find this watch perfectly suited for them.
