SIHH 2018: Vacheron Constantin FiftySix Self-Winding ref. 4600E. Live Pictures & Pricing.

Today, a new collection makes its way to the Vacheron Constantin lineup. The new collection named FiftySix is inspired by a historical Vacheron Constantin watch from 1956. With a retro-contemporary style the new FiftySix is a modern interpretation of the iconic reference 6073, launched in 1956. Available in stainless steel or 18K 5N pink gold, there are three new watches that are part of this new collection and which are distinguished their shape and lugs, each representing a branch of the Maltese cross which has become an emblem of the Manufacture.

Evoking the historical reference from 1956, these three new watches include a Maltese cross in their oscillating weights, a box-type sapphire crystal that rises above the bezel, sector type dials, superluminova on hands and markers and automatic movements. Additionally, for the very first time in its history Vacheron Constantin is offering a classic collection in stainless steel and in the usual gold. For this feature we will focus on the FiftySix Self-winding ref. 4600E/000R-B441 in 18K pink gold and ref. 4600E/000A-B442 in stainless steel.

Featuring a 40 mm case in diameter, display case back and delivered on alligator strap —either black or brown depending on the metal— with half Maltese cross shaped pin buckle in their respective metals, this new watch is simply stunning and a great entry level priced watch to get into Vacheron Constantin.

The Dial

The sector dial on this new watch is a stunner and it comes with applied 18K gold numerals and markers with superluminova. Vacheron Constantin decided to not cut any corners and the stainless steel model is also equipped with applied markers and numerals in 18K white gold.

The Movement

As an homage to the automatic movement of the 6073, the Vacheron Constatin FiftySix Self-Winding is powered by the new automatic calibre 1326 with a power reserve of 48 hours. For this new collection a new oscillating weight has been designed by Vacheron Constantin. This polished and satin-brushed 22 carat openworked rotor, bearing a Maltese Cross applique and a frosted-snailed finish, represents a signature feature of all FIFTYSIX models.

On the wrist, the new FiftySix Self-Winding wears true to its size and with really nice modern vintage presence. A watch that gives you a lot of bang for your buck.
