Introducing: MB&F LM FlyingT Onyx. The Fifth Iteration in the Stone Dial Saga.

First launched in 2019, the Legacy Machine FlyingT was MB&F’s first-ever machine dedicated to women —today a total unisex piece— and was launched in three different 18K white gold versions. Then in 2020, they were joined by limited editions in red gold and platinum, featuring guilloché dials as well as a Lapis Lazuli dial and an 18K white gold case set with diamonds. In 2021, MB&F started adding other stone dials including a malachite dial version, a tiger eye dial, and last year the brand presented the 'Coeur de Rubis' dial —aka anyolite, which is a combination of Ruby within Zoisite and is also known as Ruby Zoisite.

Today, the brand continues the stone dial saga for the LM FlyingT and presents the fifth iteration of its kind with an Onyx dial. The sophisticated LM FlyingT Onyx features the deep black gemstone encased in an 18K yellow gold case —a classic combination found in vintage watches.

Contrary to what one might think, the onyx dial is much more complex than a flat slab of gemstone: it is meticulously crafted 3-dimensionally, taking into account not only the asymmetrical cutout for the tourbillon but also variable thicknesses to accommodate the technical requirements of the movement plate below. And to make things even more complex, the onyx is crafted into a dome.

The FlyingT’s slender, elongated lugs frame the onyx under a dome of sapphire crystal rising from the cambered bezel. At the 7 o’clock position, the hours and minutes are indicated by a pair of serpentine hands on a subdial inclined at a 50-degree angle, visible only by the wearer; an intimate communication that highlights the personal nature of the LM FlyingT.

At the center stage, a soaring 60-second flying tourbillon projects like a column, driven by energy generated by a sun-shaped automatic winding rotor with sculpted rays.

Powering this new edition is the same movement with the soaring vertical structure of the FlyingT movement, topped by a 60-second flying tourbillon. The sun-shaped winding rotor ensures the automatic movement is fully wound, offering 100 hours of power reserve.

Despite its complexity, the FlyingT calibre finds its place in the compact 38.5 mm case. The MB&F LM FlyingT Onyx is delivered on a black alligator strap and is available for purchase as of today across the MB&F authorized dealer network, and MB&F’s eShop.
