Baselworld 2015: Introducing the Girard-Perregaux Vintage 1945 Small Seconds 70th Anniversary Limited Edition. Live Pictures and Pricing.

Here we bring you the second limited edition released by Girard-Perregaux at Baselworld 2015 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Vintage 1945 collection. The new Girard-Perregaux Vintage 1945 Small Seconds 70th Limited Edition watch ref. 25880-56-111-BBBA is fitted with a two-toned pink gold and stainless steel case measuring 36.20 mm in length and 35.25 mm in width. The applied numerals on its dial and hands are a throwback to the 1945 model, echoing the brand's tradition. This new Girard-Perregaux Vintage 1945 Small Second 70th Anniversary limited edition is a reissue of the original 1945 watch with its combination of metals so characteristic of the Art Deco movement. Its elegant rectangular case with generous dimensions is faithful to the identity codes of the collection. The straight lines and curves are a vibrant tribute to the aesthetic heritage of the early twentieth century. Arched in both directions, it reduces its presence on the wrist while also perfecting the fit. The crown integrated in the middle fades to better enhance the watch profile.

Its beige dial is clean, elegant and well balanced, just like the finesse on the curves of the watch's case and the contrasting metals. Like the case, the dial presents a doubly-curved shape and is indicative of the skills needed to create such a piece. The hours are marked as on the original model by Arabic numerals. The applied numerals take the pink gold color of the bezel while the small second indication at 6 o'clock underscores its symmetry and balance. The dauphine minute and hour hands are faceted and delicately curved by hand to follow the shape of the dial. The elegant numerals —Breguet looking— bring out an alternate dimension that gets accentuated by the multi-layer construction of the dial with the sunken seconds register at 6 o'clock.

This aesthetic sophistication of this new timepiece is completed by the in-house automatic calibre GP03300-0051 composed of 213 parts and 32 jewels. Equipped with a minimum 46-hour power reserve, its frequency is 4 Hz, or 28,800 vph. On its case back protecting its beating heart, the engraving of the limited edition and commemorative logo of the anniversary highlights the Art Deco-inspired collection and recalls the famous arrow shape of Girard-Perregaux Bridges.

To complete this tribute edition, Girard-Perregaux has opted for an elegant honey brown alligator strap with off-white contrast stitching and a folding clasp. The watch wears comfortably and true to its size with vintage character but modern craftsmanship. Perhaps the only downside to this new timepiece is the lack of a date function. This watch is available in a limited edition of 100 pieces.
