SIHH 2019: A. Lange & Söhne Zeitwerk Date. Live Pictures & Pricing.

The first A. Lange & Söhne Zeitwerk was launched back in 2009. An exceptional mechanical watch fitted with a digital display unlike any other watch out there just got even better at the SIHH 2019 with the release of the new Zeitwerk Date. If Lange timepieces seem too dressy or formal for your lifestyle, we think that the Zeitwerk brings the perfect balance between cool and elegant to finally make you take the plunge and get that first Lange. With its hours and minutes indicated with jumping numerals and the time bridge dominating the dial, the master watchmakers at the German manufacture were incredibly talented at adding a date function to this watch without disrupting the perfectly balanced dial or affecting the original case size of 44.2 mm.

After adding the instantaneous date mechanism that would snap as fast as the numerals —displaying the time— do, it was necessary to display the date in a prominent way without compromising readability and again, without affecting the overall visual appeal of the Zeitwerk. Cleverly executed, a sapphire crystal was added to the outer part of the dial. Then, the dates on the sapphire ring were left in full transparency allowing for a disc —with a red marking— underneath, to indicate the corresponding date.

Fitted with an 18K white gold case measuring 44.2 mm in diameter and a thickness of 12.3 mm, the new Zeitwerk Date is one of our favorite watches at the SIHH 2019. Lastly, in order to provide the perfect symphony of color and functionality the solid silver dial in light grey features a red segment on its power reserve indicator at 12 o’clock, to indicate when the reserve is low or fully depleted.

The beating heart powering the A. Lange & Söhne Zeitwerk Date is the new Lange in-house manual wound movement calibre L043.8 composed of 516 parts and 70 jewels. This new movement provides a power reserve of 3 full days hours while beating at a frequency of 18,000 vph. The instantaneous jumping numerals mechanism and the new date function, always deliver a precise reading of the time and date.
