W&W 2023: Patek Philippe Annual Calendar Chronograph ref. 5905R Blue Dial (Live Pics)

Released in 2015, the Patek Philippe Annual Calendar Chronograph ref. 5905 quickly became one of the hottest watches and a grail watch for many. Available in different metals including platinum, rose gold, and stainless steel, now for Watches & Wonders 2023, the Patek Philippe ref. 5905 comes with a new variation in 18K rose gold with a sunburst blue dial.

One of our favorite watches presented by Patek Philippe at Watches & Wonders 2023 is the new Aquanaut Luce ref. 5261R in 18K rose gold. Despite that, this new watch is an addition to the Luce ladies’ collection, its size and looks make it a perfect unisex watch that can be worn pretty much by anyone. Featuring a practical and easy-to-use Annual Calendar, its iconic design with a rounded octagonal shape is enhanced by the contrast between the polished and satin-brushed finishes and by the blue-gray dial with a matching rubber strap with Aquanaut pattern.

Fitted with a dial in aventurine on mother-of-pearl comes the new Hermès Arceau Petite Lune. This new watch highlights the horological expertise of Hermès and adds a new iteration to the Arceau collection. Cased in 18K white gold with a bezel set with 70 diamonds, the dial features planets in aragonite, opal, and fresh water mother-of-pearl with five diamonds. Born from the imagination of Henri d’Origny in 1978, the Arceau watch combines understatement and creativity. Its round 38 mm white gold case rests on a stirrup, creating a timeless yet singular shape.

The new Cartier Santos Dumont XL with Stone Numerals is presented in a limited edition of 200 pieces each in 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold, and platinum. Each watch bears a different type of stone in its Roman numerals and the dial is cut directly into the stone allowing for the numerals to protrude over the surface. The different dials include jasper, jade, and dumortierite.

W&W 2023: Grand Seiko Spring Drive 3 Days SBGA481G (Live Pics)

Taking its inspiration from the Grand Seiko lion comes the new Grand Seiko Spring Drive 3 Days SBGA481G. Its angular case with capricious lines is very retro looking and along with the double-curved sapphire crystal, this is a watch that takes us back to the seventies. Made of high-intensity titanium, the generous case measures 44.5 mm in diameter but is remarkably light.

The new IWC Pilot's Watch Chronograph 41 TOP GUN Oceana is yet another great addition to the line of pilot’s watches cased in ceramic and that were presented by IWC last year. This new watch features a monochromatic look with a blue ceramic case measuring 41.9 mm in diameter and a matching blue strap in rubber with denim textile inlay.

In 2005, almost 30 years after its launch, our favorite updated Ingenieur reference IW322701 was launched and from that point forward, IWC tried way too many times to maintain this icon alive. However, we have to say that the new IWC Ingenieur Automatic 40 is the closest successor to the original Ingenieur SL in terms of proportions and looks. The new Ingenieur Automatic 40 is being released in stainless steel with three different dials and also in a monochromatic version in titanium with a sandblasted case that has an incredible matte finish.

The new Angelus Chronodate Titanium ‘Fern Green’ boasts a 42.5 mm case that continues the neo-retro spirit of this sporty chronograph. With a look somewhat resemblant to the vintage IWC Porsche Design watches from the past —especially when on a bracelet—, the Angelus Chronodate comes with a sleek vintage aura in a very contemporary execution.

This year at Watches & Wonders 2023 Cartier released several new models under this collection but one that takes the center stage is the new Santos-Dumont Micro-Rotor with a skeletonized dial and a platinum micro-rotor decorated with the shape of the famous monoplane aircraft ‘La Demoiselle’ flown by Alberto Santos-Dumont.

Perhaps one of our favorite releases from Cartier at Watches & Wonders 2023 is the new Pasha de Cartier in stainless steel with salmon dial. This new model is the perfect addition to the recently resurrected Pasha de Cartier collection. Equipped with a case in stainless steel measuring 41 mm in diameter and fitted with a gorgeous salmon dial, this Pasha de Cartier is beyond stunning.

The Santos de Cartier never stops evolving and adding new colors to its lineup. New for Watches & Wonders 2023 is the new Santos de Cartier with a green dial and a green crocodile strap. This new iteration available in medium and large size is powered by the automatic movement calibre 1847 MC.

W&W 2023: Hublot Square Bang Unico Sapphire 42 (Live Pics)

Last year Hublot released the Square Bang as the first square-shaped watch for the brand. Somewhat reminiscent of the Santos de Cartier is almost impossible not to think of the Santos 100 when looking at this watch from Hublot. This year at Watches & Wonders 2023, Hublot have added several iterations of this watch but one that stands out from the rest is the new Square Bang Unico Sapphire 42 with its transparent sapphire crystal case.

Carrying a pencil and a scorecard at the golf course seems to now be a thing of the past when you can just keep track of your score on your wrist. First released in 2018, the Hublot Big Bang Unico Golf in white texalium was later released in green texalium during Dubai week 2020 and also in navy blue. Now, the Big Bang Unico Golf is cloaked in sky blue texalium for Watches & Wonders 2023.

A long-awaited complication for Panerai and one of our favorite releases from the brand during Watches & Wonders 2023. The new Panerai Radiomir Annual Calendar is the very first annual calendar for the brand and it comes in two different metals. The first one is in Goldtech under reference PAM1363 sporting a gorgeous gradient sun-brushed blue dial and the other one is in a highly exclusive limited edition in Platinumtech under reference PAM1432 with a gradient sun-brushed burgundy dial.

One of the hottest releases at Watches & Wonders this year is the new Panerai Radiomir California PAM1349. Not only for the first time a Radiomir historical model gets released in a 45 mm case, but this is also the first time that Panerai is using a new finish called Brunito —burnished in Italian— eSteel. This new patinated look is quite different from the ‘patina steel’ utilized on the Panerai Radiomir 8 Days PAM 992.

In a limited edition of only 100 pieces comes the new Grand Seiko SBGY026 ‘Hana-Ikada’. This stunning dress watch from the Elegance collection is cased in 18K rose gold bearing a incredible dial in hues of light pink resembling the ‘Sakura’ —cherry blossoms. The dial’s embossed pattern, like petals floating on water has an incredible texture that is better appreciated in the metal.

Since its release, the Grand Seiko Spring Drive GMT Triple Time Zone has been an attention grabber with its sapphire crystal bezel that gives this watch a refinement that makes it as suitable for formal occasions as it is for use outdoors. The new Grand Seiko Spring Drive GMT SBGE295G is equipped with a stainless steel case measuring 44 mm in diameter and a sapphire crystal bezel in white and green.

In a limited edition of only 50 pieces comes the new Grand Seiko Masterpiece Spring Drive Limited Edition SBGZ009 Micro Artist Studio featuring a fully engraved case in platinum measuring 38.5 mm in diameter. Made one by one and engraved by hand, this new watch takes its inspiration from the white birch trees that lie at the foot of the North Yatsugatake Mountains in the eastern part of Shinshu.
