Experience: Zenith DEFY El Primero 21 Carl Cox and an Awesome EDM Playlist on Spotify

If you are into EDM, then Carl Cox’s is no stranger to you. Carl Cox was the resident DJ at Space in Ibiza for 15 years until 2016. Born in the UK he is one of the pioneers of house music along with names like Frankie Knuckles better known as ‘The Godfather of House Music’, David Morales and Paul Oakenfold. If you want to see how everything started when it comes to EDM, you must watch the documentary ‘What We Started’ on Netflix. Additionally, there’s some great watch spotting on the wrists of Carl Cox, Afrojack, Steve Angello, Tiësto and others.

The Zenith DEFY El Primero 21 Carl Cox was released in a 200-piece limited edition featuring a carbon case loaded with superluminova —only visible in dark conditions or under black light—, a small seconds indicator shaped like a record vinyl and a bright red strap, this limited edition is presented in a special numbered box with a set of Pioneer HDJ-X headphones.

The DEFY El Primero 21 Carl Cox Limited Edition features a 44 mm case in carbon with a carbon bezel concealing bright green superluminova for those party nights at the club where the black lights will power it up like a full moon. Additionally, the strap stitching also features luminova but not as bright.

Fitted with a slightly open-worked dial –as the chrono counters are solid—, the watch features a power reserve indicator at 12 o’clock, a 30-minute chrono counter at 3, a chrono seconds register at 6 and a small running seconds at 9 o’clock that is shaped and grooved like a record vinyl. All hands relating to the chronograph feature red tips and the measurement goes down to 1/100th of a second.

Powering the Zenith Carl Cox limited edition is the Zenith calibre El Primero 9004. The El Primero 21 is the culmination of over 50 years of perfecting the automatic chronograph at the Zenith manufacture. This automatic chronograph movement is equipped with two regulating organs and escapements, one beating at 5Hz for timekeeping, and the other at an incredible 50Hz to offer a true 1/100th of a second chronograph display. The movement features a special linear power reserve indicator and provides a power reserve of 50 hours. Visible via the display case back, the black open-worked star-shaped oscillating weight rises in all glory.
