Introducing: MB&F Orb by L'Epée 1839. A Chiming Desk Clock Like No Other.
At first glance, the Orb clock by MB&F and L’Epée 1839 looks like a futuristic model of an eye with its perfectly formed shiny sphere, and its dial taking the place of the iris and the pupil. But nothing is ever quite what it seems with the collaborative clocks of these two brands. The minimalistic structure is composed of four elytra —that’s the technical word for a beetle’s protective wing covers, in case you were wondering— that not only open up but can also swivel like a transformer to display the Orb in a variety of different positions.

Only the clock masters at L’Epée 1839 could’ve thought of creating a mechanical table clock shaped after a smoking revolver. After numerous collaborations with MB&F, the oldest and most reputable clockmaker in Switzerland teamed up with The Unnamed Society —whose motto is “Create the impossible that cannot be imagined”— to come up with what has never been done before.

All previous MB&F Machines created for the ONLY Watch Auction up to date were unique pieces from existing collections that incorporated visual elements related to the auction. For this year’s ONLY Watch Auction, MB&F and L’Epée have teamed up yet again, to make an incredible clock never released before. The clock seeks to highlight the special nature of the auction. The unconventional, highly metaphorical table clock was created with a small sculpture of a young boy named Tom who represents the children living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy —the cause behind this auction and a degenerative disease that causes the gradual loss of basic motor functions, including the ability to walk. Tom rides a T-Rex friend, who carries him away into fantastical realms as a symbol of the hope offered by the ONLY Watch Auction to the children affected by the disease.

Released less than two months ago, MB&F and L’Epée 1839 continue with their partnership by releasing another robot clock, this time by the name of Grant. Named after a World War II Tank also known as the Medium Tank, this M3 was a mid-size American tank utilized by the British and nicknamed 'Grant' in honor of Union general Ulysses S. Grant who led the Union Army to defeat the Confederacy and whom became POTUS succeeding Andrew Johnson.
