One of the most iconic elements in almost every Bahnhof —train station— in Switzerland's cities is the Mondaine clock. In 1944, Hans Hilfiker, a Swiss engineer/designer and employee of the Federal Swiss Railways created this clock which immediately became the 'Official Swiss Railways Clock'.

The red seconds hand stops for 2 seconds when it reaches 12 o'clock, allowing the minute hand to elegantly jump to the next minute. The seconds hand does not bounce from index to index, but calmly and evenly swipes its path around the clock.
Its sophisticated electronics do not require an app on your phone to set the time. After inserting the batteries, you only have to press two small buttons next to the battery compartment simultaneously to activate the WiFi function. After connecting the watch to your smartphone —via the WiFi settings—, it can be adjusted thanks to a user-friendly multilingual operating menu. For example, a different time zone can be selected, or daylight-saving time can be switched on and off.
