Baselworld 2016: Presenting the new Breitling Avenger Hurricane. Hands-on Review, Live Pictures & Pricing.

This year at Baselworld 2016, Breitling upped their game with the introduction of three new all black timepieces. One of them, the new Breitling Avenger Hurricane that not only stands out from the crowd because of its 50 mm diameter case, but also because of the unique sheen on its polymer composite case construction that is ultra-sturdy and ultra-light made in a futuristic material named Breitlight. The new Breitling Avenger Hurricane chronograph pushes all existing boundaries in terms of instruments for professionals. With a sturdy construction equipped with lateral protective reinforcements and an all-black look enhanced by yellow accents and aviation-inspired stencil-type numerals, this watch doesn't fly under the radar as one would expect because of its all black appearance.

Extreme performance, through the innovative use of Breitlight in its case, a world-first
achievement on a watch case. This material exclusive to Breitling is 3.3 times lighter than titanium and 5.8 times lighter than steel; however, significantly harder. This exclusive high-tech material boasts a number of qualities: exceptional resistance to scratches, traction and corrosion, anti-magnetic, thermal stability, anti-allergic properties – as well as a touch that is warmer than metal and a slightly mottled effect accentuating the originality of the design.

The new Breitling Avenger Hurricane features extreme functionality, ensured by a highly legible Black Volcano dial enhanced with luminescent hands and numerals, a thick sapphire crystal glareproofed on both sides and pushers and crown fitted with a non-slip knurled grip ensuring optimal handling even with gloves. The dial has just the right amount of white and yellow to make it stand out.

Extreme comfort, procured by an exclusive strap combining yellow rubber core and sides with a high-resistance black Military textile fiber exterior. The strap is fitted with a matching black DLC treated titanium deployant buckle.

Water-resistant to 100 m/330 ft and featuring a rotating bezel with rider tabs serving to memorize times, this new Breitling instrument for professionals asserts itself as a compendium of boldness, innovation and performance designed to share every challenge —on land, at sea and in the air. It’s not called Hurricane for nothing.

The beating heart inside the new Breitling Avenger Hurricane is the manufacture automatic Breitling calibre B12 with 47 jewels and a power reserve of 70 hours. The movement is protected by a solid case back also in Breitlight. The new Breitling Avenger Hurricane also comes with extreme reliability thanks to the chronometer-certification of its calibre by the COSC —Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute.

On the wrist, the watch wears really nice regardless of its XXL case size measuring 50 mm. Thanks to the lightness of the Breitlight case, the watch seems to wear more like a 47-48 mm piece on a 7.25" wrist. The wrist presence is definitely very sporty, rugged and ultra military. This is a watch that you can definitely see someone like Dan Bilzerian wearing on one of his crazy adventures. In summary, one of the best looking all black watches this year at Baselworld 2016.
