The Aventi A13-02 Ghost Tyamine was recently released and is one of the most complex watches released by Aventi. This watch features a sapphire skull on its dial with more edges and facets than a brilliant-cut diamond. This sapphire skull is suspended over their first Swiss-made open-worked tourbillon.
Things to Know About the Watch
Equipped with a Grade 5 Titanium case with a Tyamine coating —an exclusive proprietary amorphous carbon formulation developed for maximum durability— that is applied through a high-voltage electrochemical process. This unique layer of Tyamine creates an intricate layering of graphite and diamond structures that form a swirling pattern across the surface of the case. This unique layering retains the lightness of titanium but a surface as hard as a diamond. The case measures 49 x 44 mm and is exquisitely finished with this deep black textured treatment that provides unparalleled scratch and corrosion resistance while retaining the lightweight and impact resistance. This special Tyamine coating extends to the Grade 5 Titanium deployant buckle and also to the winding crown. The Aventi A13-02 Ghost Tyamine is delivered on a very supple and durable orange FKM rubber strap —this type of rubber is a fluorocarbon-based synthetic rubber with a high tolerance for chemicals and heat.
But perhaps the most intriguing and interesting part of this watch is the suspended sapphire skull dial that takes 500 hours of work to produce. To put things in perspective, a brilliant-cut diamond has 58 individual facets and the Aventi skull dial is conformed of 160 facets and 200 edges with a mere thickness of 2.3 mm. The skull features seven layers of blue anti-reflecting treatment to provide unparalleled visibility and avoid any unwanted glare.
While most watches are equipped with metal hands, Aventi decided to go the extra mile and created hands made out of sapphire with an unfathomable thickness of only 0.3 mm. The slightest human error during the assembly process would shatter them completely. To ease readability in low light conditions, the hands, the skull, and the minute track have a border of black superluminova. The final touch on the dial side includes a natural pigeon blood ruby that is hand set into one of the eyes of the skull. This type of ruby is one of the rarest gems on earth and the most coveted type of ruby in the world. The name comes from the fact that the crimson hue of this ruby mirrors the color of the blood of a pigeon.
The Movement
Powering the Aventi A13-02 Ghost Tyamine is a Swiss-made manual wound calibre GT-01S that was produced by a team conformed of companies like Atokolpa, Generale Ressorts, and TEC Ebauches. Some of these companies work alongside brands like AP and Richard Mille. The movement is made in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the same place where Girard-Perregaux and Greubel Forsey are located. The movement features a tourbillon cage with only 18 components and once fully wound, the movement delivers an impressive power reserve of 105 hours with one single mainspring barrel. Additionally, the movement can withstand the force of 5000Gs as well as magnetic resistance to up to 2000 gauss.

On the wrist, the Aventi A13-02 Ghost Tyamine wears smaller than its actual size and more like a 41 mm watch. Light on the wrist and comfortable with its rubber strap, the watch brings a lot of innovation and great craftsmanship for its price tag.
