Photo Report: Opening of the AP House New York & The Royal Oak 50th Anniversary Capsule Experience

Yesterday May 20, 2022, we were in NYC for the opening of the new AP House in the Meatpacking District. This is not only the first AP House to open in the United States, but it is also part of the celebrations of the 50th Anniversary of the Royal Oak. Making the Park Hyatt New York our home away from home was the first stop for an incredible Friday in the company of our friends at Audemars Piguet.

Located at 52-58 Gansevoort Street, adjacent to the iconic Pastis French brasserie, the newly opened AP House New York was the ideal location for a series of celebratory events. On Wednesday, May 18th, clients, friends of the brand, and guests gathered in the AP House, located on the second floor of the original, 19th-century building above Pastis in the Meatpacking district.

The AP House New York will provide a platform to foster deeper relationships with clients and friends of the brand through exclusive experiences that showcase the Manufacture’s creations and its savoir-faire. Guests in attendance included Audemars Piguet U.S. CEO Ginny Wright, Busta Rhymes, Bethenny Frankel, Hannah Bronfman & Brendan Fallis, Sebastian Stan, Cole Walliser, Heron Preston, and many more.

Nested in a gorgeous space with an outdoor terrace, the look and feel of the AP House New York goes in line with the theme of the boutiques but in an even more posh an upscale way. Upon entering the second level where the AP House is located, there is a special exhibition area that recreates the look of the new Audemars Piguet museum in Le Brassus with a mobile featuring an exploded Royal Oak movement. The AP House features incredible decor, different textures, stone, very comfortable and inviting seating areas and the most incredible Royal Oak book we’ve ever seen. The book named Royal Oak from Iconoclast to Icon was produced by Audemars Piguet and Assouline. This oversized book —approx 34 inches tall— features the most incredible photography of the Royal Oak and will be sold in a limited edition of six pieces as far as we were told. And regarding pricing, looks like each copy will sell for approx $50,000 USD.

Additionally, the Royal Oak's 50th Anniversary is captured through an immersive installation at the Hudson Yards next to The Vessel. The 50th Anniversary experience on the Public Square and Gardens at Hudson Yards provides a deep dive into the Royal Oak's history and evolution and is open to the public through May 25th from 11 am to 6 pm daily and reservations can be scheduled by booking here. The AP House is by invitation only.
