News: Vacheron Constantin Launches a Reverse Panda Dial for the Overseas Chronograph and a Black Dial for the Overseas Date

Originally launched in 1996 and revamped in 2004 and in 2016, the Vacheron Constantin Overseas is the perfect sporty yet elegant option offered by this manufacture. While in 2016 the Overseas received its biggest facelift ever, today, Vacheron Constantin has decided to add two new dials to the collection. As a first for the brand and for the Overseas collection comes a glossy black reversed panda dial with silvered chrono registers. The second one is a jet black glossy dial for the Overseas Date model.

News: Richard Mille Unveils RM 11-03 McLaren Automatic Flyback Chronograph with McLaren Automotive at the 88th Geneva Motor Show. A 500-Piece Limited Edition.

Richard Mille and McLaren Automotive have just revealed their first jointly-commissioned timepiece, the new Richard Mille RM 11-03 McLaren Automatic Flyback Chronograph was unveiled at the Geneva International Motor Show during a reception hosted by McLaren Automotive CEO, Mr. Mike Flewitt and Richard Mille himself. The new RM 11-03 McLaren, created in close collaboration between McLaren Design Director Rob Melville and Richard Mille Engineer Fabrice Namura, has been in development since McLaren Automotive and Richard Mille partnered last year uniting a mutual interest in unique design, the use of new materials and modern craftsmanship.

Last Friday, March 2, 2018 a special charity auction took place as part of the 6th annual One Night for One Drop event imagined by Cirque du Soleil, raising funds and awareness to benefit critical water issues worldwide. Held at the Michael Jackson ONE Theater at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, one of the highlights of the live auction was the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Unique Piece in 18K rose gold with blue dial and rose gold subdials that sold for $240,000 USD. This very special unique piece bears the following reference number 26584OR.OO.1220OR.01.

News: Zenith Unveils the Two New Pilot Type 20 Extra Special Watches at the 20th Cuban Habanos Festival. The Cobiha Maduro 5 Editions.

Zenith’s partnership with high-end cigar brand manufacturer Cohiba gets off to a smoking start in 2018, at the 20th prestigious Cuban Habanos Festival, with the launch of two new limited edition versions of the Pilot Type 20. News: IWC Pilot's Watch Mark XVIII 'Laureus Sport for Good Foundation'. A Limited Edition of 1,500 Pieces.

At the occasion of the 2018 Laureus World Sports Awards in Monaco, IWC has just released new watch with a case made of black ceramic. This new IWC Pilot's Watch Mark XVIII 'Laureus Sport for Good Foundation' features a blue dial and a special engraving on the case back. This is now, the 12th special edition timepiece released after the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation by IWC Schaffhausen. The new Pilot’s Watch Mark XVIII Edition 'Laureus Sport for Good Foundation' ref. IW324703 comes in a 41 mm black ceramic case and is available in an individually numbered limited edition of 1,500 pieces.

This weekend at Watches & Wonders Miami 2018, we had the opportunity to peruse and photograph one of the most important celebrity-related timepieces to come up for auction. We are talking about the Omega watch gifted by RCA Records to icon Elvis Presley in 1961. This historically important watch, will be sold at the upcoming Phillips Geneva Watch Auction: SEVEN taking place in Geneva, Switzerland on May 12th and 13th of this year. The watch once belonging to Elvis Presley is a highlight of this upcoming auction and it's the watch which was owned and worn by the rock and roll icon...

News: H. Moser & Cie. Presents the Frankenstein Swiss Icon Watch. When Mockery is Used as a Marketing Tool to Gain Traction.

Up until now, we've had a lot of respect for all the creations coming from H. Moser & Cie. including their Swiss Mad Watch Unique Piece with a case made out of hardened Swiss cheese and presented last year on the occasion of the SIHH 2017 as we featured it here. However, yesterday H. Moser & Cie. announced a watch that plainly makes mockery of many of the well established Swiss watch brands and this time, we unfortunately can't praise them for that.

Without a doubt, 2017 was a year full of incredible new watches and exceptional releases from the majority of the brands at the SIHH and Baselworld; however, just like with everything else, we can only pick a handful of watches that took our breath away for one reason or another. From million dollar watches to incredible celestial complications, perpetual calendars, striking time watches and everything in between, here are our 10 favorite watches released this year to wrap up the year 2017.

Last year in November of 2016, we brought you the news regarding the Armin Strom Mirrored Force Resonance Fire in 18K rose gold, the first truly Resonance timepiece in the market. Then six months later, in May of 2017, Armin Strom released their Resonance watch also in stainless steel. Well, today after the great success of the inaugural rose gold limited edition and the visually technical stainless steel edition, Armin Strom’s most innovative piece to date, will now be offered to collectors with superb, hand-executed guilloché dials, creating an outstanding synthesis of tradition and innovation —two values dear to the brand.

News: Greubel Forsey Nano Foudroyante EWT. Second Part of the Mechanical Nano Project.

From tower clocks to wristwatches, the history of clock- and watch-making over the past four centuries chronicles the ever-increasing miniaturisation of mechanisms. Up until now, the power needed to drive a wristwatch mechanism has been a limiting factor in terms of design and innovation. Greubel Forsey’s fundamental work on Mechanical Nano, based on the mastery of energy and available space, is once again confirmed and now applied in a watch mechanism.

News: Presenting the MB&F Automatons Kelys & Chirp. A Collaboration with Reuge and Nicolas Court.

The result of a collaboration between Reuge —the mechanical music box and singing birds specialists— and Nicolas Court, one of Switzerland’s most talented automaton experts comes a set of two automatons —a first for MB&F— named ‘Kelys & Chirp’. The first, a walking turtle and the latter his singing bird companion, are both fully mechanical creatures. By pressing Kelys’ tail, this turtle will start to gently walk across the table in an amazingly realistic turtle-like gait. After a few seconds, another surprise is revealed when one of the scales on his back opens up and his friend Chirp pops out, flapping her wings vigorously and singing loudly.

News: Pre-SIHH 2018 IWC Tribute to Pallweber Edition “150 Years” ref. IW505002. A 250-Piece Limited Edition Celebrating the Brand's 150th Anniversary.

Celebrating its 150th Anniversary, IWC will be unveiling 27 new timepieces during the SIHH —Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie— in January 2018. With new watches within the Portugieser, Portofino, Pilot's and Da Vinci collections, IWC marks this occasion, also launching its first-ever wristwatch to feature the original digital hours and minute display as it appeared on the Pallweber pocket watches back in 1884. Founded in 1868 by American watchmaking pioneer Florentine Ariosto Jones, the International Watch Company in Schaffhausen was established with the aim of combining skilled Swiss craftsmanship with American manufacturing technology to create the best pocket watches money could buy back then.

News: WatchBox Launches as a Platform for Buying, Selling and Trading Pre-Owned Luxury Watches. Danny Govberg and Liam Wee Tay Join Forces.

Industry veterans Danny Govberg —CEO of Govberg Jewelers in Philadelphia— and Liam Wee Tay —former owner of Sincere Fine Watches the oldest watch retailer in Singapore— have united with investor-entrepreneur Justin Reis to transform the pre-owned luxury watch category by uniting the two largest watch markets with a global platform for buying, selling and trading luxury watches under the name of WatchBox.

News:Pre-SIHH 2018 Vacheron Constantin Overseas Dual Time ref. 7900V with New Design and In-House Movement

The Vacheron Constantin Overseas Dual Time was discontinued a couple of years ago with the release of the new Vacheron Constantin Overseas collection. Today, in preparation for the SIHH 2018, Vacheron Constantin just unveiled at the Dubai Watch Week, the new Overseas Dual Time this time powered by an in-house calibre and boasting a new case design and dial layout. Fitted with a 41 mm case —1.5 millimeters smaller than the previous iteration of the Overseas Dual Time ref. 47450—, the watch is available in either 18K 5N rose gold or stainless steel with its iconic bezel evoking Vacheron Constantin’s famous Maltese cross emblem.

The 50 lots composed of unique watches and exceptional experiences were auctioned by Christie’s to bidders from 45 different countries.
