I still remember like it was yesterday when I purchased my first Oris watch back in 1999 during a trip to Miami. It was the Oris BC3 Day Date Big Crown ref. 635 7500 on a rubber strap with a black dial. What a great-looking watch for the price, unlike the garbage that the brand produces now. If I am not mistaken, I think I paid about USD 600 at the time after discounts, taxes, and all.
Baselworld: Oris. More Focus on Diving Watches.
Oris, the brand with the iconic red rotor has definitely come a long way since the launch of the Big Crown watch in the late 90s. At Baselworld, an updated Big Crown watch was unveiled as well as the Depth Gauge Aquis diving watch. Based on what we saw at their pavilion, Oris will continue to position their core brand essence within the confines of precise mechanical diving watches, with additional interest on their aviation timepieces and lesser on their racing line.
Their pavilion includes a wide range of pieces on display as well as some historical museum pieces that are eye-catching. Enjoy the video at the bottom with the Depth Gauge Aquis in action.
