Rare Bird: Hublot Big Bang Unico Depeche Mode Limited Edition. A Punkish 250-Piece Limited Edition.

Hublot and Depeche Mode have been partners since 2010 and have supported Charity: Water on three other occasions since 2013. The Hublot Big Bang Unico Depeche Mode in a limited edition of 250 pieces is one of the most unique looking watches released in partnership with this iconic post-modern era band to celebrate their latest album 'Spirit'. Sporting a knurled and polished black ceramic case measuring 45 mm in diameter, the dial is reminiscent of the very first model produced between Hublot and Depeche Mode. The matte black skeletonized dial features black-plated studded indexes that complement the black rubber and calf cuff strap with black-plated studs.

The Watch Details

The Hublot Big Bang Unico Depeche Mode Limited Edition is definitely not your average looking watch and if you're not one that likes to dress like Dave Gahan or Martin Gore from Depeche Mode, this watch might make you look like you are trying way to hard to be cool if you are in your mid-forties going through your mid-life crisis. The dial layout features a running seconds register at 9 and a 60-minute chrono register with date aperture with white background at 3 o'clock.

Just like the case, the black ceramic bezel, crown and pushers are also knurled and polished. The middle case bezel lug is made of black composite resin with 6 H-shaped matte black-plated titanium screws. The watch features the quick-strap change pusher at the lugs and is equipped with a very unique cuff strap —Bund style strap.

The black calf strap features a rubber lining and black-plated studs matching this punkish mid-80s looking watch. Turning the watch around reveals the massive cuff style strap construction in very supple calf leather. The strap is fastened by a black ceramic and black-plated titanium deployant clasp.

The Hublot Big Bang Unico Depeche Mode Limited Edition is powered by the in-house automatic calibre HUB1242 UNICO Flyback Chronograph composed of 330 parts, 38 jewels and which provides a power reserve of 72 hours when fully wound while oscillating at a frequency of 28,800 vhp —4 Hz. The display case back is decorated with the Depeche Mode Charity: Water logo but still allows for full view of the movement via its sapphire crystal. The watch is water resistant to 100 meters.

On the Wrist & Pricing

On the wrist, the Hublot Big Bang Unico Depeche Mode Limited Edition wears really big and more like a 47 mm watch. Honestly, the biggest issue with this watch is that because of its oversized cuff-type strap, the watch wears extremely high on the wrist and impossible to tuck under a shirt cuff. Definitely not an every day watch and one that looks somewhat out of place if you're not wearing black, grey or white monochromatic outfits.
