The Geneva-based manufacture has just unveiled three extraordinary additions to their Antarctique Mount Erebus collection, each one a testament to nature's artistry and human craftsmanship working in sublime harmony. Named after Antarctica's active volcano, famous for releasing microscopic gold particles in its volcanic plume, these timepieces celebrate the transformative power of natural forces. Just as Mount Erebus shapes precious materials deep within the Earth, Czapek has channeled this inspiration into watches that blur the line between timekeeper and treasure. All three watches are cased in 5N gold measuring 40.5 mm in diameter—rose gold for the Lapis Lazuli and Falcon Eye models, and yellow gold for the Green Meteor.
Three Different Dials
The collection comprises three distinct personalities, each featuring rare stone dials that make every piece genuinely unique. The Lapis Lazuli variant showcases the deep celestial blue that has captivated civilizations for millennia, its golden specks catching light like stars against a midnight sky.
The Falcon Eye model presents the mesmerizing interplay of blue, anthracite-gray, and golden hues characteristic of this South African microcrystalline quartz, while the Green Meteor—crafted from Namibian Gibeon meteorite—offers an otherworldly green lacquered finish that seems to pulse with cosmic energy.
What makes these watches particularly compelling is Czapek's philosophy of embracing imperfection as beauty. Rather than seeking flawless stones, the brand deliberately selects materials with organic stripes and inclusions, understanding that nature's irregularities create singular character. This approach aligns perfectly with their motto "We Collect Rare People," extending the concept to rare materials that tell stories spanning millions of years.
The Movement
The technical foundation remains uncompromisingly modern, featuring Czapek's in-house SXH5 automatic calibre housed in precious rose gold cases. The sport-chic design language of the Antarctique line provides the perfect backdrop for these geological marvels, balancing contemporary aesthetics with timeless elegance. The 193-part movement features a 100% recycled platinum micro-rotor and a power reserve of 60 hours.
Summary & Price
Working with lapis lazuli presents particular challenges—the stone's delicate nature requires meticulous selection and careful craftsmanship to achieve dials that harmonize with the warmth of rose gold without fracturing. The falcon eye quartz dial undergoes a fascinating transformation process over time, with crocidolite fibers replaced by quartz while preserving the original fibrous structure, creating those distinctive chatoyant effects.
Perhaps most intriguing is the Green Meteor, sourced from the same Gibeon meteorite that has provided material for other luxury timepieces, but here treated with a translucent green lacquer that creates unprecedented depth and visual texture.
Production will be appropriately exclusive: the Lapis Lazuli and Falcon Eye models limited to 10 pieces annually, while the Green Meteor will be even rarer at just 8 pieces total that are now actually already sold out. The clients can choose to have polished center links or fully brushed center links when purchasing the bracelet option. The watches are also available on a rubber strap or on an alligator strap.
