By marrying the performance of a sports watch with the elegance of a round timepiece, Richard Mille has successfully merged two diametrically opposing characteristics. Overseen by Julien Boillat, the Richard Mille watch exteriors teams have reinterpreted the collection’s first ultra-thin round watch the RM 33 which was introduced in 2011. The taut lines of the case combine the curves of a tonneau shape and the elegance of a round form with a subtle allusion to sporty style in the design of the hollows. This first round Carbon TPT automatic watch exhibits a Carbon TPT bezel and case back alongside a satin-finished red gold caseband.

Despite its disruptive appearance, the Richard Mille Bonbon Collection is directly descended from earlier Richard Mille creations and one that could’ve been inspired by Dylan’s Candy Bar in New York City. Forays into the spectrum of greens, crimson, yellow and even pink are possible thanks to a mastery of materials, many of them exclusive, that is a Richard Mille specialty.

Cased in titanium or in red gold and titanium —we personally prefer the full titanium model we have here—, the Richard Mille RM11-01 Mancini was released as a regular production watch and not in a limited edition. Despite that, it is nearly impossible to find one nowadays.

Located at 46 East 57th Street, in the heart of Manhattan —right across from Audemars Piguet and next to Phillips and Jacob & Co.—, the 4,200 square feet flagship becomes the ninth Richard Mille boutique in the Americas. A two-story oasis of sleek contemporary design, bathed in abundant natural light, the boutique represents a new architectural standard for the luxury brand. Richard Mille himself and John Simonian —CEO of Richard Mille Americas and owner of Westime— started the search for the ideal boutique location in New York a decade ago. As it turned out, the property they ultimately selected did not even exist 10 years ago.

Not only the SIHH takes place in a much nicer city like Geneva, but it is also a show worth attending for the so many important brands that are there including all brands from the Richemont Group, Audemars Piguet and the majority of the independents.
