When we first saw the stock images of the new Hublot Classic Fusion Chronograph Italia Independent before Baselworld we were not sure whether we liked this new collaboration with Lapo Elkann or not. However, after perusing the watches in the metal, we were blown away by the craftsmanship and the idea behind incorporating some of the most iconic suit fabrics on the straps and dials of these new watches.

This year at Baselworld 2017, three new sapphire Hublots have been released to join the other Hublot Big Bang Unico Sapphire watches released last year. The new Hublot Big Bang Unico Blue Sapphire, Big Bang Unico Red Sapphire and Big Bang Unico Sapphire Diamonds are a perfect example that there are no limits when it comes to releasing crazy watches by this brand. For these new colors, Hublot has now fused sapphire and metals to create a Big Bang case in blue sapphire and in red sapphire —marking the first time these colors of sapphire have been used in watchmaking.

Continuing with their involvement with professional teams and the NFL, last night September 20th, 2016, Hublot unveiled a new pair of watches in partnership with the NFL New York Giants. As Hublot becomes the official timekeeper of the New York Giants, their new timepieces were co-designed by Victor Cruz, the New York Giants wide receiver and a fashion icon.

The Berluti emblematic Venezia leather and its famous patina, partnered with Hublot’s innovation in watchmaking, creates the new Classic Fusion Berluti. This Baselworld 2016 was definitely a big year for Hublot. Along with the launch earlier this year with the new Hublot Big Bang Unico Sapphire, Hublot decided to also launch a sibling of this crazy watch in an All Black version. Sapphire —an extremely difficult material to machine—has until now been reserved for one-of-a-kind pieces or very private collections.
