The 10th edition of the 'Salón Internacional Alta Relojería México' SIAR 2016 took place from October 17th through the 20th at the St. Regis Hotel in Mexico City and we were there to provide our usual media coverage. The SIAR is the most important watch show in Latin America for exhibiting, promoting and selling fine timepieces in the region.

An interesting partnership for sure between two of our favorite brands at WCL. An explosive, combination as Zenith and Land Rover join forces to create to gorgeous new chronographs. Yesterday morning, the Foundation of the GPHG —Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève revealed the list of the 72 preselected watches in the running to win the “Aiguille d’Or” Grand Prix or one of the 16 prizes —12 categories and 4 additional industry prizes— that will reward 2016's finest watch creations. This edition of the GPHG 2016 has attracted record participation just as in previous years, with most major watch groups represented, along with a number of independent companies.
Special Report: The State of the Swiss Watchmaking Industry. The Steepest Fall Since 2009.
As many of you know or have heard through the grapevine, 2016 has been a rough year for the Swiss watchmaking industry facing its steepest fall in exports since 2009. While 2015 wasn't a very good year either with the value of the watch industry exports being 3.3% lower than in 2014 and almost as low as 2012 —total value at 21.5 billion Swiss Francs—, 2016 aims to be one of the worst years the industry has had in the last five years.

To celebrate the exciting and successful second season of the Armin Strom Sailing Team, Armin Strom created a limited commemorative edition of its Gravity collection and gave the team's skipper Flavio Marazzi the first of 32 watches produced for the series. Armin Strom owner Serge Michel, presented the special timepiece to Marazzi during a ceremony on July 10 at the Lake Garda competition in Malcesine, Italy.
