Insider: Bulgari Octo Finissimo Skeleton Power Reserve Titanium. A Masterpiece of Skeletonization.

With a 40 mm case and an ultra-slim profile with a total thickness of 5.35 mm, comes the new Bulgari Octo Finissimo Skeleton Power Reserve in titanium. Following the success of the Octo Tourbillon Finissimo in 2014, the Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater in 2016 and last year’s Octo Finissimo Automatic, Bulgari’s mastery of the art of watchmaking was duly acknowledged at last year’s Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève which rewarded both the Octo Finissimo Tourbillon Skeleton and the Octo Finissimo Automatic. The Bulgari Octo Finissimo Skeleton Power Reserve Titanium is an impressive manual wound watch with a level of skeletonization above the rest. Available in a variety of colors and metal combinations, this is by far one of our favorite Octos.

About the Watch

Its complex, finely structured 40 mm sandblasted titanium case draws its strength and beauty from its remarkable design. The slimness of the new Bulgari Octo Finissimo Skeleton Power Reserve Titanium positions this watch as one of the slimmest in the watch industry. With blue hands and blue flange with minute track, the watch is simply gorgeous.

The dial features a very convenient power reserve indicator at 9 o'clock, running seconds indicator at 6 and a skeletonized mainspring barrel between 12 and 2 o'clock.

The slender case profile just a mere 5.35 mm thick is almost unfathomable. Its monocoque —one piece— construction is based on the principle well mastered by Audemars Piguet and Gerald Genta in 1972 when the Royal Oak was launched with the same type of case construction. The winding crown on the new Bulgari Octo Finissimo Skeleton Power Reserve Titanium features a solid ceramic inlay. The watch is delivered on a matching blue alligator strap with pin buckle.

The Movement

Powered by the in-house manual wound calibre BVL 128SK merely 2.35 mm thick, the movement provides an outstanding power reserve of 65 hours when fully wound. The watch is water resistant to 30 meters and the 20-jewel beautifully skeletonized movement is fully visible via the display case back.

On the Wrist & Pricing

The Bulgari Bulgari Octo Finissimo Skeleton Power Reserve Titanium wears slightly bigger than its actual size and more like a 42 mm watch. Due to its extremely light construction —less than 60 grams in weight— and slender profile, wearing this watch is like wearing nothing. The skeletonized movement is a real treat for the eyes and for the price it doesn't get much better.
