Contrasting with the fully polished 40 mm pink gold case, the blue dial of the new timepiece provides a dramatic backdrop for the tourbillon and the date display, and reflected light dances across the sunray pattern of the guillochage with every movement of the wrist. The hand-guilloché pattern is a work of immense precision and skill: each of the 180 ‘sun rays’ required six passages of the hand-operated rose engine lathe, making 1,080 lines altogether.

This 42.5 mm diameter sporty-chic watch features a slender curvature thanks to its ultra-thin automatic movement the in-house Calibre 2160 with tourbillon. Straight from the L.A. Times comes the news about Anthony Farrer ‘The Timepiece Gentleman’ finally getting arrested by the FBI. Back in August, we reported that Anthony Farrer had published on Reddit a post titled ‘Coach’s Mea Culpa’ —Latin for ‘my fault’—, explaining that The Timepiece Gentleman seemed to owe consignors $2 Million USD in misplaced inventory. Later that month, Anthony Farrer published a video on YouTube admitting his wrongdoings and stating that he owed close to $5 Million USD to consignors and others.

This weekend November 3 and 4, 2023 in Geneva, Switzerland, Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo brought in CHF39,055,706 —$43,074,538 USD— in The Geneva Watch Auction: XVIII, doubling the pre-sale low estimate of CHF 19 million. The auction, held on Friday, November 3, and Saturday, November 4, saw watch aficionados participating from across 66 countries. The atmosphere in the saleroom at La Réserve Hotel was electric and brimming with enthusiasm, as over 650 collectors attended in person and over 1,500 bidders competed online on Phillips.com, ultimately securing half of the lots offered.
