This Baselworld 2019 Rolex introduced a new generation of its Oyster Perpetual Day‑Date 36, available in 18K yellow, white or Everose gold with distinctive new dials and gem-set bezels on some versions. Without a doubt the wildest releases this year from the Rolex a.k.a. The crown. First released in 1956, the Day-Date became very popular among the elite as well as world dignitaries to then soon be referred to as the Presidents’ watch. A significant innovation at the time, the Day-Date was the first calendar wristwatch to indicate the date and the day of the week spelled out in full in an arc-shaped window at 12 o’clock. Additionally, the day of the week can be ordered in 26 different languages, and the watch is available in 18K white gold, 18K yellow gold, Everose gold and in platinum.

The Rolex Day-Date is without a doubt the watch of choice for anyone wanting to make a statement or merely the kind of watch that you get yourself when you’ve finally made it. Perhaps the most popular watch down in Texas and a synonym of wealth and power throughout the world.

Well, the new Rolex Day-Date 36 models are some of the wildest Rolex President watches we’ve seen in a while. Colorful, fun and blingy are some of the words that come to mind when looking at the new dial and gem-set configurations.

Rolex Day-Date 36 Ombré Dials

Of the new combinations, two feature a totally new dial design with a concentric gradient. The first, in 18K yellow gold, is presented with a green ombré dial and the second, in 18K Everose gold, with a brown ombré dial. Both dials are gorgeous but our favorite one is the green one. Two sexy looking presidents right here.

Rolex Day-Date 36 Diamond Pavé Dial

Then comes the full diamond paved dial version in either 18K white ref. 128349RBR, yellow ref. 128348RBR or Everose gold ref. 128345RBR and with or without diamonds on bezel and on the bracelet center links. Gem-setters, like sculptors, finely carve the precious metal to hand-shape the seat in which each gemstone will be correctly lodged. With the art and craft of a jeweler, the stone is placed and meticulously aligned with the others, then firmly secured in its gold or platinum setting. Besides the intrinsic quality of the stones, several other criteria contribute to the beauty of Rolex gem-setting with the precise alignment of the height of the gems, their orientation, and position, the regularity, strength, and proportions of the setting as well as the intricate finishing of the metalwork. A sparkling symphony to enhance the watch and enchant the wearer.

Rolex Day-Date 36 Turquoise Dial

Lastly, two of our favorites are the new dial options in natural stones. The first one, and a watch very reminiscent of the ‘Stella Dial’ era is the Rolex Day-Date ref. 128348RBR with Turquoise dial set with diamonds on the Roman numerals and the bezel. Characterized by hour markers fashioned from 18K gold to prevent any tarnishing, every Rolex dial is designed and manufactured in-house, largely by hand to ensure perfection.
