SIHH 2019: Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph 44 'Pride of Germany' Limited Edition. Live Pictures & Details.

While the attention was centered on the new CODE 11.59 by Audemars Piguet as well as some of the new Royal Oaks released by the brand, there’s a pair of new watches that barely anyone got to see and that we were able to even shoot for you. The new Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph 44 ‘Pride of Germany’ comes in two iterations and is the first time that AP releases a ‘Pride’ edition in a 44 mm case. The first one, an 18K rose gold model with black ceramic bezel ref. 26416RO.OO.A002CA.01 and the second one, a full black ceramic —case and bezel— model ref. 26415CE.OO.A002CA.01. Without a doubt, our favorite iterations of the Royal Oak Offshore 44 line. Slightly reminiscent of the look of the discontinued Royal Oak Offshore Rubber Clad, the 18k rose gold model comes in a super exclusive limited edition of only 30 pieces, while the black ceramic model in a limited edition of 300 pieces.

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph 44 'Pride of Germany' Black Ceramic Limited Edition ref. 26415CE.OO.A002CA.01

Available in a limited edition of 300 pieces the Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph 44 'Pride of Germany' ref. 26415CE is equipped with black ceramic case and black ceramic bezel, the use of ceramic allows for a more careless and worry-free wear of the watch, especially considering that AP bezels are the biggest scratch magnets. The finish of the ceramic bezel is simply impressive with a nice grain that mirrors the satin-brushed finish on the metal bezels of all other Royal Oaks and Royal Oak Offshores. Available in a limited edition of 30 pieces the watch features the exact same slate grey dial with ‘Méga Tapisserie’ pattern and rose gold markers and hands that comes on the 18k rose gold Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph 44 'Pride of Germany' ref. 26416RO. This watch is delivered on a black rubber strap with 18K rose gold plots attaching to the case, a stainless steel pin buckle and is fitted with a display case back.

The Movement

Both watches are powered by the same Audemars Piguet calibre 3126/3840 with 59 jewels and 365 parts that powers all other Royal Oak Offshore Chronographs including the 42 mm models and the movement is fully visible via the display case back engraved with the name of this limited edition as well as with the number of pieces for each model. For this particular model, the oscillating weight that is typically galvanic grey treated on all 44 mm Offshores is this time in 22K gold like on the calibre 3120.

On the Wrist

On the wrist, this is hands down the nicest pair of Royal Oak Offshores in 44 mm ever released. The new Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph 44 'Pride of Germany' Limited Edition watches will forever be remembered by us as those ‘sleeper’ pair of watches that were silently and secretly unveiled during the last year that Audemars Piguet attended the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie.
