News: Girard-Perregaux Laureato Absolute Infrared. An 88-Piece Exclusive to China.

Girard-Perregaux is releasing the new Laureato Absolute Infrared Limited Edition to celebrate the opening of their first boutique in China and the 230th anniversary of the manufacture. This new watch is equipped with a 44 mm case in black PVD Grade 5 titanium and a forged carbon dial with red applied baton indexes.

The Swiss Manufacture is one of the oldest names in watchmaking, known for making peerless exemplars of Haute Horlogerie. The two brands will collaborate on upcoming limited-edition timepieces. In the relentless pursuit of speed, time is the overriding concern.

Employing high-tech know-how this Chronograph is cased in a strong and light, 44 mm blue Carbon Glass case referred to as Absolute Rock by the brand. The Laureato Absolute Rock models are an evolution of the classical Laureato. The dial features a sandwich-type construction, masterfully playing with depths and, in so doing, creating a fascinating and highly legible display.

Girard-Perregaux is pleased to unveil the Quasar Azure, a new iteration of the original Quasar encased in azure blue sapphire crystal, recalling the Manufacture’s first Bridges timepieces created in 1867. This new model is a limited edition of eight pieces, conferring a notable degree of exclusivity. The ability to showcase the art of precision engineering is among Girard-Perregaux’s greatest achievements, just as they did with the Three Gold Bridges employed on La Esmeralda, the world-famous pocket watch of 1889. Breaking News: Girard-Perregaux and Ulysse Nardin Announce the Gradual Reopening of their Manufacture

Since 1846 for Ulysse Nardin and 1791 for Girard-Perregaux —in over 200years of existence and through two world wars— neither of the two have ever had to close their doors. Unfortunately, with the unprecedented spread of the COVID-19 virus throughout the world, all sectors of activity have had to adapt, and watchmaking is no exception. The epidemic seems to have begun to wane and we have built a new way of working adapted to the new environment.

Available in 18K white gold as reference 99110-53-001-53A or 18K pink gold as reference 99110-52-000-52A comes the stunning Girard-Perregaux Laureato Flying Tourbillon Skeleton —a direct descendant of the original model launched in 1975—. With a fully skeletonized dial this watch is similar in looks to the Royal Oak Openworked with its grey galvanized bridges; however, the Laureato Flying Tourbillon Skeleton looks much better as all the wheels and gears have been treated to maintain a nice monochromatic color scheme for its overall design.

Two years after its return to the Girard-Perregaux collections, the Laureato is writing a new chapter in its history with the introduction of an enriched range of chronographs. In this natural and eagerly awaited extension of an eminently sporting chic collection, the Laureato once again demonstrates the strength and relevance of the design of this iconic watch, born in 1975. With a 42 mm case that is very proportionate for its design, the new Laureato Chronograph ref. 81020 is available on bracelet or alligator strap —with the exception of the rose gold model only available on alligator strap— and with three different dial options for the stainless steel models —panda, blue and black with blue chrono registers— for the stainless steel models.

A stunning timepiece with exposed balance wheel on the dial side is the new Girard-Perregaux Neo Bridges ref. 84000-21-001-BB6A. This new timepiece faithful to the DNA of its manufacture is equipped with a generous 45 mm case in titanium and is as modern looking as it gets. However, it is hard to not confuse the looks of the Neo Bridges with an Arnold & Son or an Angelus. With its movement playing an integral part of the design and the overall look of the watch, the new Girard-Perregaux Neo Bridges priced at $24,000 USD is a very forceful competitor to some of the creations from the Independent brands out there.

Sitting at the top of the Laureato collection, this new watch embodies all the historic expertise of the Girard-Perregaux Manufacture. This year, Girard-Perregaux was back at the SIHH Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie —after four brief years exhibiting at Baselworld— and to mark their return, they launched a whole new Laureato collection with watches in three different sizes: 34 mm Quartz powered and automatic 38 mm and 42 mm.

To celebrate its 225th anniversary, Girard-Perregaux presented the exceptional 18K rose gold La Esmeralda Tourbillon for Baselworld 2016. The new iteration of the La Esmeralda Tourbillon is inspired by the Tourbillon with Three Gold Bridges pocket chronometer that won the gold medal at the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1889. This majestic timepiece is the mechanical expression of an aesthetic quest dedicated to achieving the Maison’s goal of ultimate accuracy.
