Experience: WOLF Memento Mori Triple Watch Roll. Protecting People's Legacies.

WOLF 1834 Memento Mori Watch Roll

We’ve been using watch rolls and cigar cases from WOLF for several years but we have not featured them here at WCL. However, after getting their newest Memento Mori triple watch roll we knew it was time to give credit where credit is due and tell you guys/gals more about them.

WOLF was established in 1834 just as its name suggests. Their founder Philip Wolf, had one goal and it was to protect one’s possessions by storing and safeguarding them in a fine quality case. A German silversmith, Philip Wolf I created the company in 1834 when he discovered that his silver pieces sold more when presented in beautiful boxes. As he began selling more boxes than silver, he refocused his designs creating sophisticated jewellery cases which not only looked good but protect meaningful treasures, a practice we have perfected along the way. Since then, WOLF has been ran by the direct descendants of Philip Wolf I. A century later in 1936, Philip Wolf III —the inventor of the music box with turning ballerina— and his brother Ernst took over the business and started his own specialized box making firm named “Stockholms Etui & Koffertfabrik”. Continuing with their legacy in 1985 Philip Wolf IV invents the WOLF tubular watch roll that today continues to be a mainstay in WOLF’s collections.

Then in 1996, Dallas, Texas —our home base— comes into the picture as Philip Wolf IV and V present their brand to Bailey Banks and Biddle —part of Zale Corporation— agreeing to launch WOLF products in all of their stores.

As a five-generation family company WOLF understands that extraordinary objects are representations of extraordinary moments in life, thus they’ve dedicated their business to honor people’s stories and their priced possessions. The Memento Mori —Latin for “Remember that you have to die”— collection taps into the reminder of the inevitability of death and how our priced possessions perpetuate our legacy —makes us think of the Patek Philippe ad campaign where one merely takes care of the watch for the next generation.

The Memento Mori Triple Watch Roll is hand crafted in smooth vegan leather —in either red or black— with a very detailed and eye-catching skull embroidery, a brushed chrome skull hardware and a black ultrasuede lining to keep your timepieces protected while traveling in ultimate style. The skull extends over the full exterior of the watch roll and is pure ‘badassery’.

The Memento Mori watch roll includes space for three watches with two watch guard rings —something we’ve always loved and appreciated about their watch rolls— to avoid watches from touching each other. The watch roll features a snap closure with two different adjustments in order to allow the owner to fit bigger or smaller watches.

And besides the amazing skull embroidery which we absolutely love, the Memento Mori watch roll also includes a secret tubular compartment that goes in the middle of the cushion where the watches are placed. This ‘jewelry capsule’ —patent pending— has three compartments for safe keeping of cufflinks, rings and even extra straps as you can see on our picture.
