Insider: Roger Dubuis Excalibur Huracán. Almost Like Wearing a Lamborghini on the Wrist.

Taking inspiration from the Lamborghini Squadra Corse and its unique automobile aesthetic showcased in the Huracan Performante the watchmakers at Roger Dubuis have developed a few incredible timepieces brimming with racing design codes. Along with the new Roger Dubuis Excalibur Huracán Performante and its new movement —the RD630 with its 12-degree inclined balance wheel representing the calibre signature associated with Lamborghini—, comes the Roger Dubuis Excalibur Huracán with its 45 mm titanium case and the automatic winding mechanism displaying a rim‑like oscillating weight. The upper calibre features a strut‑bar designed bridge recalling the ones of the V10 engine of the Lamborghini Huracán super car.

Things to Know About the Watch

Taking strong visual cues from the shapes on which the supercar is based, this timepiece notably gives pride of place to the hexagon. A versatile geometrical figure used to construct the volume of the supercar, it appears throughout the timepiece in various guises and is notably reproduced to symbolize strut bars. The stand-out half hexagon appearing on the louvered air intakes of the Lamborghini Huracán Performante are repeated as miniature versions visible through the openwork dial of the Excalibur Huracán timepiece.

The skeletonized dial with black lower flange and rhodium plated upper flange features rhodium plated indexes filled with white luminous SLN, 18K black PVD coated gold hands with black transfers and white luminous SLN tips. The seconds hand is in grey varnished aluminum and the date is displayed at 6 o’clock in a very discreet way. The Roger Dubuis Excalibur Huracán is equipped with a bi-material strap with black rubber base and grey alcantara inlay with and a titanium black DLC adjustable folding clasp.

The Movement

Visible via the display case back much like the Lamborghini Huracán —from which it takes its inspiration— reveals its powerful engine through a glass see-through hood, the Roger Dubuis Excalibur Huracán automatic calibre RD630 composed of 233 components and 29 jewels is fully visible by turning the watch over.

Finished with shot-blasted and NAC coated main plate, the movement is equipped with an oscillating weight that looks exactly like a Lamborghini rim. This gorgeous movement with two barrels, provides a power reserve of 60 hours while beating at a frequency of 28,800 vph.

On the Wrist & Price

Offering the same blend of performance, lightness and security as its namesake supercar, the Excalibur Huracán timepiece sports a distinctive grey look that brings its sporty look to the max. On the wrist, the Excalibur Huracán wears true to its size and light as a feather. Almost like wearing a Lamborghini on the wrist. For the price, you get a lot of bang for your buck.
