Insider: Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Compressor Chronograph Ceramic and Rose Gold. Hands-on with the Best Combo So Far for this JLC Model.

One of those watches that didn't get much attention or exposure at the SIHH 2017 is the new Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Compressor Chronograph in black ceramic with rose gold hands and rose gold crown and pushers. If you thought that all other JLC Master Compressor Chronographs in black ceramic were sporty, wait until you see how awesome this new watch got thanks to the perfect combination of 18K rose gold with black. Fitted with a matte black ceramic case measuring 46 mm in diameter and 14.27 in thickness. Somewhat light in weight but extremely sturdy thanks to the unparalleled hardness of its ceramic case, the new Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Compressor Chronograph Ceramic with 18K rose gold accents is perfectly suited for any type of daily abuse.

The Dial

In a perfect color combination against its black ceramic case, this new Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Compressor Chronograph Ceramic is fitted with a matte black dial with white applied trapezium-shaped markers, white transfers and with highly contrasting rose gold skeletonized hands with superluminova. This watch just got much better thanks to this strikingly beautiful combination. The watch features a second time zone hand —hidden underneath the hour hand on our pictures— that allows to keep track of a second time zone.

The surface of the dial is perfectly matte with recessed subdials at 9 o'clock for the 12-hour chrono register, at 3 o'clock for the 30-minute chrono register and at 6 o'clock for the running seconds. Opposed to the rest of the registers, the running seconds register features a snailed finish just as the outer rim of the 30-minute chrono register does. With a somewhat busy layout, the watch also features a day/night indicator aperture right underneath the JLC transferred logo. The indicator shows white during daytime and black for nighttime.

The Case, Pushers & Crown

With its 46 mm black ceramic case, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Compressor Chronograph Ceramic wears big and extremely rugged. A watch that looks like it could be on the wrists of the members of a Spec Ops team for the Navy SEALs, this time the Master Compressor Chronograph features 18K rose gold rectangular chrono pushers and crown.

Just like on the other Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Compressor Chronographs in black ceramic, the crown is equipped with the patented JLC compression key that ensures water resistance up to a depth of 100 meters. The screw-down crown features a white and red safety indicator that will show you if the crown has inadvertently been left unscrewed. Both the crown and pushers have a bead blasted matte finish and complement this new watch like never before.

The Movement

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Compressor Chronograph Ceramic is powered by the in-house automatic JLC calibre 757 composed of 300 parts and equipped with two barrels and 45 jewels. When fully wound, the movement provides a power reserve of 65 hours while beating at a frequency of 28,800 vph. While the chronograph is not a column-wheel chronograph mechanism, this movement is one of the finest automatic movements out there. In order to stay in line with its tool watch design and remain true to the robustness of the Master Compressor collection, the JLC Master Compressor Chrono is fitted with a solid case back rather than a display case back.

The Strap

Fitted with a black Trieste cloth strap like that on the other black ceramic Master Compressor Chronographs, the new JLC Master Compressor Chronograph with rose gold accents is ready for some extreme adventures. The strap is equipped with a titanium black DLC pin buckle.
