Baselworld 2018: H. Moser & Cie. Pioneer Center Seconds Cosmic Green. Hands-on, Live Pictures & Pricing.

The H. Moser & Cie. Pioneer collection was launched in 2015 and since then it has been the bold, modern interpretation of the classy spirit of this manufacture. With a strong design which makes reference to the industrial world, models in this collection are both elegant and sporty, tailored for daily wear. The new H. Moser & Cie. Pioneer Center Seconds Cosmic Green is equipped with a steel case and is the first watch in this collection to feature a cosmic green dial, reminiscent of the jewel tones of the Northern Lights, producing a look that is both elegant and resolutely contemporary.

Things to Know About the Watch

With its sturdy character, the Pioneer Center Seconds watch is as elegant as it is practical. It adapts to every situation. Its generous case measuring 42.8 mm and its sporty black fabric strap make for a fun ultra sporty watch suited for all adventures. The indices, tipped with a luminescent dot, are faceted, and the leaf-shaped hands are partially skeletonized with superluminova tips, perfectly in line with the open, streamlined aesthetic.

The cosmic green dial is simply gorgeous in person and its sunburst 'fumé' finish evokes the color of some of the purest emeralds. If you like green dials on watches, this is one of the best ones out there.

Just like all other watches in the Pioneer collection, the case features a very interesting design with fluted indentations on its caseband. These fluted areas resemble a very fine membrane like that on fish gills. The black fabric strap with a slight sheen looks charcoal gray or true black depending on the lighting conditions.

The Movement

The new H. Moser & Cie. Pioneer Center Seconds Cosmic Green is powered by the automatic in-house calibre HMC 200 with 27 jewels. While beating at a frequency of 21,600 vph, the movement provides a power reserve of 72 hours. Unfortunately at the time of our review, the prototype presented to us wasn't equipped with an actual working movement, therefore, we have no live pictures of the movement to share with you. The watch is fitted with a display case back and is water resistant to 120 meters.

On the Wrist & Pricing

On the wrist, the H. Moser & Cie. Pioneer Center Seconds Cosmic Green wears true to its size and with great wrist presence. If you like exclusivity and impeccable craftsmanship, look no further. Without a doubt, one of the best looking green dials out there and for the price, it doesn't get much better elsewhere. Now, if you want to save a few thousand dollars, you might want to check out the new Glashütte Original Sixties Green we published here, but despite its gorgeous green dial, as far as exclusivity and pedigree, it is nowhere near this H. Moser Pioneer.
