W&W 2023: Cartier Santos-Dumont Micro-Rotor (Live Pics)

Cartier Santos-Dumont Skeleton

First designed for Brazilian Aeronaut and Inventor Alberto Santos-Dumont in 1904, the Cartier Santos-Dumont is one of the most iconic watches in the world and one that hasn’t evolved much since then with a few minor facelifts here and there. This year at Watches & Wonders 2023 Cartier released several new models under this collection but one that takes the center stage is the new Santos-Dumont Micro-Rotor with a skeletonized dial and a platinum micro-rotor decorated with the shape of the famous monoplane aircraft ‘La Demoiselle’ flown by Alberto Santos-Dumont.

Cased in stainless steel measuring 43.5 mm x 31.4 mm, the Cartier Santos-Dumont Micro-Rotor is simply gorgeous. The skeletonization work is remarkable and the watch is available in three different versions: stainless steel photographed here, a yellow gold model with blue lacquer on its case and bezel and a pink gold version.

On the wrist, the Santos-Dumont Micro-Rotor wears slightly smaller than its actual size but wears really beautifully. This new watch is sure to be a conversation piece with its platinum micro-rotor bearing the famous monoplane piloted by Santos-Dumont. The watch is powered by the automatic Cartier calibre 9629MC with a 46-hour power reserve. The watch is delivered on a dark blue alligator strap with a folding clasp.

Sticker Price €27,900 Euro —approximately $30,000 USD. For more info on Cartier click here.
