Baselworld 2018: Hublot Classic Fusion Chronograph Berluti Scritto Ocean Blue and Hublot Classic Fusion Chronograph Berluti Scritto Bordeaux. Live Pictures & Pricing.

Another big release from Hublot at Baselworld 2018 and the result of a collaboration we absolutely loved since its introduction in 2016 —you can read about them here. This year, the Hublot Classic Fusion Berluti lineup just got even better with two new chronographs that clearly enrich this collaboration between the Parisian shoemaker and the watchmaker from Nyon. The first watch sports a titanium case and a gorgeous ocean blue dial, while the second one comes in 18K king gold with a burgundy red dial the evokes the color of wine.

The new Hublot Classic Fusion Chronograph Berluti Scritto Ocean Blue reference number 521.NX.050B.VR.BER18 and the Classic Fusion Chronograph Berluti Scritto Bordeaux reference 521.OX.050V.VR.BER18 are available in a exclusive limited edition of 250 and 100 pieces respectively.

The Berluti emblematic Venezia leather and its famous patina, partnered with Hublot’s innovation in watchmaking, creates the new Classic Fusion Berluti in these two new models. From its modelling to its working then from cutting to assembly, each leather part has followed exactly the same ritual of mineral and vegetable tanning as Berluti shoes. An additional challenge Hublot was how to use a living material in the sealed casing of a watch. Hublot and Berluti rose to the challenge and through a complex and delicate process, the humidity that is contained naturally in the leather was neutralized, so that the Venezia Scritto could be encapsulated in sapphire. Leather that has been made unspoilable and protected from any oxidation.

Things to Know About the Watches

The new Hublot Classic Fusion Berluti Scritto like their predecessors, are presented in an exquisite leather lined wooden box that serves as a strap and shoe care kit that includes the finest Berluti shoe polish, brushes and all other tools necessary to keep those straps and shoes looking like new. The dial features embossed hour markers, embossed Hublot logo, embossed 'Automatic' writing and embossed 'Swiss Made' writing. The design is very nice and well balanced with a bi-compax layout featuring running seconds at 3 and 30-minute chrono register at 9 o'clock. These two registers come in highly contrasting colors that are a few shades lighter than the main color of the dials.

Both watches come with cases measuring 45 mm in diameter and Venezia Scritto calf leather straps with writing inspired by 18th century calligraphy. The rubber lined straps are equipped with deployant Hublot folding clasps and match the dials flawlessly.

The Movement

The beating heart inside the new Hublot Classic Fusion Chronograph Berluti Scritto Ocean Blue and the Hublot Classic Fusion Chronograph Berluti Scritto Bordeaux is the automatic Hublot calibre HUB1143 composed of 280 parts and 59 jewels, which provides a power reserve of 42 hours when fully wound. The movement is fully visible via the display case back and beats at a frequency of 28,800 vph.
