Baselworld 2017: New Patek Philippe ref. 6006G-001 Replacing the ref. 6000 with a Bigger Case Size. Live Pictures & Price.

Released a couple of weeks ago at Baselworld 2017, the new Patek Philippe Calatrava ref. 6006 is the new version of the now discontinued Patek Philippe ref. 6000. This iconic watch with an off-centered seconds subdial and a pointer date indicator on the periphery of its dial just got even better with a more wearable case size now measuring 39 mm in diameter opposed to 37 mm as in all of its previous iterations that are now all gone.

Things you Need to Know

The new Patek Philippe Calatrava ref. 6006 is available only in 18K white gold and with an ebony black sunburst and silvery gray dial with printed white and black numerals and markers. The date indicator now features a red arrow tip rather than the red quarter moon-shaped tip. Additionally the hour and minute hands are now skeletonized instead of solid, which makes the watch much more current and contemporary.

Regarding the movement, the new Patek Philippe ref. 6006G-001 is powered by the same calibre 240 PS C powering its predecessors. This automatic movement composed of 191 parts and 27 jewels is equipped with the iconic 22K Patek Philippe off-centered micro-rotor and it provides a power reserve of 48 hours while beating at a frequency of 21,600 vph.

On the Wrist & Price

On the wrist, the new Patek Philippe Calatrava ref. 6006G wears much better than its 37 mm predecessors and true to its size. The look is quite elegant but for some reason the date pointer indication makes the watch slightly sporty at the same time. Kudos to Patek Philippe for enlarging the case size of this reference and make it more wearable according to today's trends.
