SIHH 2018: Vacheron Constantin Métiers d’Art Les Aérostiers. Five Artistic Crafts Timepieces Celebrating Hot Air Balloons.

Celebrating the fabulous conquest of the skies with a combination of artistic crafts and horological techniques that include engraving, pounced ornament and plique-à-jour enamel, comes the new Vacheron Constantin Métiers d’Art Les Aérostiers with five incredible artistic crafts timepieces celebrating five flights taken on hot air balloons in France between 1783 and 1785. On the scale of a watch dial, the master engravers at VC also accomplish an authentic feat: faithfully reproducing in miniature the historical depictions of these flights.

SIHH 2018: Vacheron Constantin Overseas Ultra-Thin Perpetual Calendar ref. 4300V. The Perfect QP in 18K 5N Pink Gold.

A few weeks ago we brought you the news on the new Vacheron Constantin Overseas Dual Time. Today at the SIHH 2018, Vacheron Constantin has announced a new Overseas Ultra-Thin Perpetual Calendar ref. 4300V/000R-B064 with a slender case in 18K 5N pink gold case measuring just 8.1 mm thick and powered by a new calibre 1120 QP/1. This new Overseas Ultra-Thin Perpetual Calendar reveals its technical complexity while exuding an aura of understated distinction. This timepiece, representing one of the slimmest movements on the market, houses the iconic Vacheron Constantin Caliber 1120 QP/1, an ultra-thin mechanical automatic movement powering perpetual calendar and moon-phase indications.

An authentic feat of miniaturization, this barely 4.05 mm thick movement comprising 276 parts keeps track of calendar irregularities with no need for correction until 2100. Beating at a frequency of 19,800 vph and endowed with an approximately 40-hour power reserve, it drives the hours and minutes, perpetual calendar —day of the week, date, month and leap year on a 48-month counter— as well as moon-phase functions.

Its 18K 5N pink gold case, measuring 41.5 mm in diameter and water-resistant to 50 meters, frames a translucent silver-toned lacquered dial punctuated by 18K gold hands and hour markers highlighted with luminescent material.

Fitted with a sapphire crystal case back, the movement is fully visible with its 22K oscillating weight adorned with a wind rose.

Secured by an interchangeable 18K 5N pink gold folding clasp, the equally interchangeable dark blue alligator or rubber straps provide a chic way of accentuating the refinement of this model.

SIHH 2018: Vacheron Constantin FiftySix. A Brand New Collection with Three Retro-Contemporary Looking Timepieces in two Metals.

Today, a new collection makes its way to the Vacheron Constantin lineup. The new collection named FiftySix is inspired by a historical Vacheron Constantin watch from 1956. With a retro-contemporary style the new FiftySix is a modern interpretation of the iconic reference 6073, launched in 1956. Available in stainless steel or 18K 5N pink gold, there are three new watches that are part of this new collection and which are distinguished their shape and lugs, each representing a branch of the Maltese cross which has become an emblem of the Manufacture.

Insider: Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Minute Repeater Tourbillon ref. 6500T. The Tourbillon with a Maltese Cross on its Carriage.

Just a handful of brands can pride themselves in combining two of the greatest horological complications —the minute repeater and the tourbillon— in one timepiece and of course Vacheron Constantin is one of them. Fitted with a generous 44 mm case in 18K 5N pink gold, an 18K pink gold dial with astonishing guilloché motif and sporting an elegant dark brown alligator strap, comes the Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Minute Repeater Tourbillon ref. 6500T/000R-B324 in all its glory with a crystal clear minute repeating mechanism and a tourbillon with carriage in the shape of a Maltese cross.

Rare Bird: Vacheron Constantin Overseas Dual Time ref. 47450. Much Nicer than its Successor.

Last Friday November 17th, 2017 a new iteration of the classic Vacheron Constantin Overseas Dual Time was released at the Dubai Watch Week. After looking at the differences between the new reference we announced here and the discontinued reference 47450 we have on this feature, we really think that the discontinued model is much nicer as it comes with a stronger Vacheron Constantin aura and a way more classic and intricate design —perhaps we are biased as we own the earlier reference.

News:Pre-SIHH 2018 Vacheron Constantin Overseas Dual Time ref. 7900V with New Design and In-House Movement

The Vacheron Constantin Overseas Dual Time was discontinued a couple of years ago with the release of the new Vacheron Constantin Overseas collection. Today, in preparation for the SIHH 2018, Vacheron Constantin just unveiled at the Dubai Watch Week, the new Overseas Dual Time this time powered by an in-house calibre and boasting a new case design and dial layout. Fitted with a 41 mm case —1.5 millimeters smaller than the previous iteration of the Overseas Dual Time ref. 47450—, the watch is available in either 18K 5N rose gold or stainless steel with its iconic bezel evoking Vacheron Constantin’s famous Maltese cross emblem.

Experience: Fauré Le Page Messenger Bag. A Fantastic Bag from the Oldest French Luxury 'Maroquinier'.

Established 38 years earlier than Vacheron Constantin —which happens to be the oldest watch manufacture in the world founded in 1755 with over 260 years of uninterrupted history—, Fauré Le Page is today the oldest French luxury 'maroquinier' —leather goods company— in the world as it was established in 1717, more than a century before Goyard and Louis Vuitton. Much like a Vacheron Constantin Overseas Dual Time that is reserved for those that know, Fauré Le Page would be the equivalent when it comes to luxury leather goods.

Insider: Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Moon Phase & Retrograde Date ref. 4010U. Hands-on with a Stunning Timepiece with a Very Interesting Complication.

When one thinks of Vacheron Constantin, some of the first watches that come to mind are complications like the Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Moon Phase and Retrograde Date. Experience: The Hakushu 12 Years Single Malt Japanese Whisky. Refined and Understated like a Vacheron Constantin Patrimony.

While Japanese whiskys have increasingly become more popular lately, there are still a few whiskys that still remain understated and very refined just like a Vacheron Constantin Patrimony on the wrist. The Hakushu 12 Years Japanese Whisky is distilled by the Suntory Distillery in Japan, the same distillery that gave the world the exquisite Yamazaki whisky, the Hibiki and the Suntory Whisky Toki.

Insider: Vacheron Constantin Patrimony 42 mm ref. 1110U White Gold. An Elegant and Timeless Watch Reminescent of the 1950s.

For most people, any thin wristwatch with a diameter under 38 mm that is fitted with an alligator strap is considered a dress watch and meant to be worn with a suit or in a formal setting. Well, since most people think that way, Vacheron Constantin decided to break the mold and created a larger case size for its Patrimony watch making it more suitable for everyone and for most occasions. While we can't deny that this watch looks much better when paired with a suit or a tuxedo, we also can't deny the fact that it also looks great while wearing a pair of jeans and sneakers.
