W&W 2023: Cartier Santos Dumont XL with Stone Numerals. Jasper, Jade, and Dumortierite. (Live Pics)

The new Cartier Santos Dumont XL with Stone Numerals is presented in a limited edition of 200 pieces each in 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold, and platinum. Each watch bears a different type of stone in its Roman numerals and the dial is cut directly into the stone allowing for the numerals to protrude over the surface. The different dials include jasper, jade, and dumortierite.

W&W 2023: Cartier Santos-Dumont Micro-Rotor (Live Pics)

This year at Watches & Wonders 2023 Cartier released several new models under this collection but one that takes the center stage is the new Santos-Dumont Micro-Rotor with a skeletonized dial and a platinum micro-rotor decorated with the shape of the famous monoplane aircraft ‘La Demoiselle’ flown by Alberto Santos-Dumont.

Perhaps one of our favorite releases from Cartier at Watches & Wonders 2023 is the new Pasha de Cartier in stainless steel with salmon dial. This new model is the perfect addition to the recently resurrected Pasha de Cartier collection. Equipped with a case in stainless steel measuring 41 mm in diameter and fitted with a gorgeous salmon dial, this Pasha de Cartier is beyond stunning.

The Santos de Cartier never stops evolving and adding new colors to its lineup. New for Watches & Wonders 2023 is the new Santos de Cartier with a green dial and a green crocodile strap. This new iteration available in medium and large size is powered by the automatic movement calibre 1847 MC.

The moment I saw the new Santos de Cartier with blue PVD bezel a few months ago, I fell in love with it. There is no doubt that the Santos de Cartier is one of the most iconic and legendary watches in the world, and I love that every time Cartier releases a new iteration of this watch, they do it with the utmost care. Honestly, you can’t tweak an icon unless you do it right and many brands have learned the lesson the hard way.

First designed for Brazilian Aeronaut and Inventor Alberto Santos-Dumont in 1904, the Cartier Santos-Dumont is one of the most iconic watches in the world and one that hasn’t evolved much since then with a few minor facelifts here and there. This year at Watches & Wonders 2022, three limited-edition models were presented and all we could say was wow!

Insider: Coussin de Cartier. The Watch with a Flexible Case and 1,011 Brilliant-Cut Diamonds.

The new Coussin de Cartier is one of the most unique watches we’ve ever perused. A delicate watch made up of gold links that intertwine to weave a grid pattern within which Cartier has integrated an innovative element that allows the case to deform and retract to its original shape. The flexible case in 18K white gold measuring 39.3 mm x 31.9 mm x 13.60 mm is exquisitely set with diamonds and made for going out in the evening.

Insider: Cartier Masse Mystérieuse. The Most Impressive Watch from Cartier with Mysterious Hours.

Continuing with their mysterious hours’ concept, Cartier continues to explore mysterious complications to play with illusion and the perception of time and the Cartier Masse Mystérieuse is the result of that. Mystery clocks make up their own chapter in Cartier’s history because their hands appear to float over the transparent body of the clock, with no connection to the movement.

Introducing: Cartier Privé Tank Chinoise. Six Ultra Classic New Models.

Each year, the Cartier Privé collection, a celebration of collectors, celebrates the Maison’s iconic models through limited edition numbered watches, rare watches that bridge the gap between Cartier’s watchmaking heritage and today’s aesthetic vision. After the Crash, Tank Cintrée, Tonneau, Tank Asymétrique, and Cloche Cartier watches, the Tank Chinoise watch will mark the sixth chapter of Cartier Privé. Six new watches are being presented under the Cartier Privé Tank Chinoise line.

From the Editor: Cartier the 2nd Largest Watch Brand, Audemars Piguet the 4th, and Patek Philippe Falls to 6th Place.

Morgan Stanley just released a piece of research that includes the estimated revenue and units sold by the top 50 Swiss watch brands. While the rankings are relatively similar to what has been published by them in previous years, there are a few surprises. For the very first time, Audemars Piguet has surpassed Patek Philippe in terms of revenue and consolidated its spot as the 4th most important watch brand with a revenue of almost 1.6 billion Swiss Francs.

Insider: Cartier Ronde Solo de Cartier. A lot of Watch for the Money.

Not sure if we should consider the Ronde Solo de Cartier an entry-level type of watch based on its pedigree, craftsmanship, design, and its in-house movement; however, based on its retail price it’s a very strong contender when it comes to watches priced under $4K. Available on a bracelet or leather strap, the Ronde Solo de Cartier comes in a wide variety of sizes including a 29 mm quartz model, and an automatic in 36 mm or 42 mm ref. W6701011 like the one we are reviewing.

W&W 2021: Cartier Pasha de Cartier Chronograph 41 mm

With its distinctive codes, chained crown, and extraordinary design, the Pasha has been a watch for those who think big since its creation in 1985. Successfully relaunched in 2020, the new Pasha de Cartier watch is sophisticated in terms of watchmaking functions and design details that combine to strengthen and maximize its ergonomic appeal: interchangeable straps, sapphire case back, a new crown, and personalized engraving.

W&W 2021: Cloche de Cartier. Shaped like a Bell and Also Can Turn into a Desk Clock.

After the Crash, the Tank Cintrée, the Tonneau, and the Tank Asymétrique, the new Cloche de Cartier is the fifth capricious creation from the Cartier Privé line. The Privé collection celebrates and explores the Maison’s mythical models through numbered, limited edition watches. The Cloche —French for bell— shape appeared in Cartier pieces in 1920.

The Tank watch is Cartier elegance embodied, a pure and precise design, an uncompromising line. From its very creation in 1917, Louis Cartier made the distinct aesthetic choice of a rectangular shape, as opposed to the round watches of his generation.
