News: Leo Messi Visits The Audemars Piguet Manufacture in Le Brassus. The King of Soccer Gets a Lesson in Watchmaking.

Four-time Golden Ball winner Leo Messi paid a visit to the Manufacture Audemars Piguet in Le Brassus. An ambassador of the Swiss brand since 2010, the Argentine born prodigy took the opportunity to enrich his knowledge of Haute Horlogerie.

Accompanied by François-Henry Bennahmias, CEO, Audemars Piguet, Leo Messi visited the workshops where his namesake limited-edition watch is made. Wearing the platinum version of the Royal Oak Leo Messi chronograph, he met the watchmakers who produced these timepieces. “I was impressed by the difficulty involved in assembling a watch part by part. There are so many components and they are so tiny! It takes such a lot of work, time and concentration to complete a watch”, said Leo.

Considered the world’s best soccer player, Leo discovered many similarities between watchmaking expertise and his own art, particularly in terms of the constant quest for perfection: “to produce a watch, you have to make it the unique object of your attention, focus on your task, set aside everything that’s going on around you, and do whatever it takes to ensure the result is perfect”.

In a few weeks, Leo Messi will be heading to Brazil with the Argentina team for the World Cup. As captain of the squad, Leo will be driven to raise the bar for himself, like Audemars Piguet constantly does as its philosophy states: “To break the rules, you must first master them”.
